    Ya gotta be kidding

The president who is partially responsible for the present conditions we face today is number 1? The only good thing is no Bush made it into the top five, and one really can't remove the Bush taint from the Reagan presidency. Ronnie selling bullshit while the Bushes robbed the treasury. :wtf:

Number 40 is No. 1. Just in time for Presidents Day, Ronald Reagan tops a list of the nation's greatest chief executives, ahead of Abraham Lincoln, according to a new survey out Friday.

The Gallup Poll puts Reagan, with 19 percent, in the top spot for the third time. Reagan also occupied the position in 2001 and 2005 -- and he has been in the top three eight times since Gallup started asking the "greatest president" question 12 years ago.

Lincoln garnered 14 percent, followed very closely by Bill Clinton, with 13 percent.

John F. Kennedy, who was on top in 2000 and tied with Lincoln in 2003, came in fourth this year.

The country's first president, George Washington, is fifth on the list. AOL News

the Reagan myth is such a pile of crap. He was terrible in so many ways and lets not forget the contra scandal. But the only fact you really need to know about the Reagan administration is that he holds the record for having the most cabinet members indicted by a federal grand jury.

It's hilarious that the right cites him as one of their top most admired politicians despite the fact that he raised taxes 7 times (although he did lower it for top income earners from 70% to 28%), he also oversaw a huge expansion of the federal government. His "accomplishments" in lowering taxes and reducing the size of the federal government are myths plain and simple.

You know why he is held up as the Presidential hero of the Republican party? Because they have to go back more than 100 years to find anyone else even remotely worthy of praise. Who else do they have, Bush I? Bush II, or perhaps Nixon? They had to create this myth. You have to hand it to the spin machine. They did a very good job.

Bigsby, your post seems to indicate that you believe that the poll was only conducted among those on the right. I saw no indication of this but rather a general sampling of the population. I could be incorrect but if so could you please show me where this "right only" idea came from?

    regards,

You could easily be incorrect. We can agree on that. You are making an assumption and then projecting your interpretation. Never assume anything. If you read my post thoroughly you would have noted the following:

The echo chamber on the right is very effective. They keep repeating the same memes over and over and pretty soon the majority buys into them, despite the facts.

Now perhaps you'd like to address the premise that I laid out:

If not Reagan, then who do you hold up as even being a close to worthy Republican President? I look forward to seeing your list.

bigsby, I do not believe I said I was a Republican or a member of the right. I do recall mentioning that your post seemed to indicate a belief that the poll results were from the right. You state that this is not the case and I gladly take you at your word as I have no reason not to. I will not be responding to your premise regarding the right or the Republicans as I am not a part of the "they" to which you refer.

    respectfully but not apologetically,

Max, I do not believe that I ever said or even intimated that you are a Republican or Republican motivated. Again, you are making an erroneous assumption and drawing a false conclusion based on that assumption. However, please feel free to quote me if I ever slandered your good name in this way.

Yes, I recall that you did mention this previously. Please also recall that this was also erroneous assumption that lead to a fallacious conclusion.

You seem to be making a habit of this kind of error. Therefore I respectfully request that you quote me if you are going to make any future assertions about my statements. Otherwise it appears that you are looking for a reason to bicker where none exists.

No I don't suppose you will. I don't think anyone will rise to this challenge. Ask yourself why...

In light of the fact that I at no time said or even intimated that you "ever said or even intimated" that you had said or intimated that I was a Republican or Reublican motivated would you say you may have made an erroneous assuption in this regard?

Not looking to pick a fight with anyone but just how am I to ask for clarification of any of your posts without you responding that I have made an erroneous assuption of some sort? Clarification is all I was asking for in my first response to your original post. Awaiting instructions on just how to do this to your satisfaction.

    respectfully,
    Max Blast

What? I don't have time for idiocy. Here is what you said:
