PI On Board
The PI is supporting legalization. Excellent media coverage at least online since the PI is no longer in print. Got a copy of the last edition.
Ooops, it was the Times that died in print.Still got it!!
The Seattle Times editorial board has taken its share of criticism for being to the right of some of its readership. However the state??s largest daily has just advocated a decidedly liberal move: Legalizing marijuana in Washington state.
??Marijuana should be legalized, regulated and taxed. The push to repeal federal prohibition should come from the states, and it should begin with the state of Washington,? The Times writes in an online editorial that will run in the Sunday paper. ??In 1998, Washington was one of the earliest to vote for medical marijuana. It was a leap of faith, and the right decision. In 2003, Seattle was one of the first places in America to vote to make simple marijuana possession the lowest police priority. That, too, was a leap of faith, and the right decision. A year ago, City Attorney Pete Holmes stopped all prosecutions for simple possession: the right decision. It is time for the next step. It is a leap, yes ?? but not such a big one, now.?
The newspaper is endorsing state House Bill 1550, a measure which would legalize pot and sell it through state liquor stores to people 21 and older.
A SurveyUSA poll last month showed that by a slim margin, people in the Evergreen State favored marijuana legalization. Also, for the second year in a row, people who want to make pot legal in Washington will try to get a statewide initiative before voters.
A similar effort last year sputtered when organizers failed to get enough signatures. This year??s attempt includes a new provision that would require the state Legislature to adopt civil regulations on marijuana use, sales and possibly taxation.gypski Reviewed by gypski on . Wall Come Tumbling Down
You don't have to take this crap
You don't have to sit back and relax
You can actually try changing it
I know we've always been taught to rely
Upon those in authority -
But you never know until you try
How things just might be -
If we came together so strongly
Are you gonna try to make this work
Or spend your days down in the dirt
You see things can change -
YES an' walls can come tumbling down!
Governments crack and systems fall
'cause Unity is powerful -
Lights go out - walls come tumbling down!
The competition is a colour TV
We're on still pause with the video machine
That keep you slave to the H.P.
Until the Unity is threatend by
Those who have and who have not -
Those who are with and those who are without
And dangle jobs like a donkey's carrot -
Until you don't know where you are
Are you gonna realize
The class war's real and not mythologized
And like Jericho - You see walls can come tumbling down!
Are you gonna be threatend by
The public enemies No. 10 -
Those who play the power game
They take the profits - you take the blame -
When they tell you there's no rise in pay
Are you gonna try an' make this work
Or spend your days down in the dirt -
You see things CAN change -
YES an' walls can come tumbling down!

You know this has always been one of my pet peeves. Conservatives that aren't in favor of legalization. I'm a libertarian which is further right than republicans. And conservatives are supposed to really believe in the constitution and bill of rights but yet they tend to pick and choose which part of it they like. Libertarians like it all. For us no Bill of Right is more important than they other. They are absolutely necessary for a free society. More conservatives need to come on board the legalization movement to show they really are conservatives.
