    Changes in Oregon Law

Holy smokes, these folks need to get a hobby! Fellow Oregon cardholders speak up. Here's a few more of our legislators ideas to limit the OMMP program:

Recommendations must come from a primary caregiver, a doctor who has been regularly treating the condition you are seeking Cannabis for. So if your regular doctor will not recommend Cannabis, you must switch doctors and establish a relationship before you can get your recommendation letter. Not actually a bad idea, but only if there were not the social stigmas associated with Cannabis, or the threat of Federal prosecution. Very similar to what goes on with women trying to get "the morning after pill." I believe this is dangerous.

The transfer of medicine can ONLY happen between the card holder and the designated grower of the card holder. No more offering "extra" medicine to fellow cardholders. Seems like an attempt to make the "clubs" illegal, and any sharing of Cannabis a "no-no."

Also seemed like the "caregiver," designation would be eliminated if the legislators got their way. This is especially restrictive for those of us who are too ill to manage our own care. I find this nothing but mean spirited and a spit in the face of all of us. Would it ever be written into law that a chemotherapy patient must get their anti-nausea pills from the pharmacy on their own, no one else may pick them up? If you can't get yourself together enough to pick up your own medicine, you are SOL. Complete insanity.

I can't keep going on. It's too frustrating. Please follow the link in the above post and read for yourself. Things will pop up for you that may not for others. The only hope I currently have is that there are no committee meetings scheduled to discuss these proposed changes, and it does seem like there are many more seriously pressing issues on the table this session. I'm using common sense though...

Thanks jtruckit, for grabbing this and posting a link to the bill. We need to hear the murmurs around us so we can shout back!
