Help! What am i doing wrong??

6 days ago i planted my seedlings the 5 i planted sprouted but they are stretching for the light (2) 20w Flors 2-3 in. away. Is this too much or not enough light. I water every 3 days. Thay are probably 4 in. tall with only 1 set of leaves at the top. Soil, vermeculite, perlite miricle grow. ?????

get your lights closer, fluoro's should be as close as possible, an inch or less... they put off little heat

When do i switch to 18/6? Thank You

if you're on 24/0 right now, you should switch to 18/6 after about a week. Personally i stay with 18/6 from day one until about 6 weeks, then i go into 12/12.

I like to stick with 18/6 because it's much closer to a natural light cycle.

and i use 24/0 all the way up to flowering...20/4 if heat buildup calls for it.

and yes, keep those flouro's right at the tops. a fan will give the stems strength...

2 20 WATT fourescents arent going to do you much good. They will only be good for the top set of leaves generally. Try to get more light.

Also, put a fan on them. This will help the plant stop reaching and force the growth to focus on stem strength.

Eventually, you will need to deal with the lack of light issue.

Hardon, Del and Bob, thanks for the info i have two computer fans installed in this small closet box. One at the top and one at the bottom. Agreed 2 20w flors are not enough but this was for starters. Today i'm putting 175 w mh. Got to figure out to set up. Bitch is heavy with the ballast installed in the unit. Think ill go to the depot and buy some chain.
