The QF comes with a heat pack.

If you use a defroster, make sure theres no sunlight outside. Exposures to direct sunlight will cause the constituents (pH, Creatinine, Specific Gravity, etc) to dissipate, resulting in a "not consistent with human urine" ruling.

Instead, stick the QF bottle in a glove or something similar (often I use an old pint-sized Crown Royal bag).....OR .... use the heater floor ducts to heat up the QF bottle.


You can also do this: At the clinic, take the empty sample cup into the bathroom. Inside the stall, take the heat pack out of its wrapper, activate, attatch to the back of the bottle and crotch it back up. Walk out of the stall and say you are unable to pee. The collector will have you sit in the lobby and drink water until either youre able to pee, or if 3 hours had lapsed. They cannot force you to pee if you cannot pee. So play the "shy bladder" game and consume water while the heat pack heats up the bottle. The supplied heat pack by itself takes approximately 1 hour to bring the bottle temp to 100F. When the temp is in the range of 96-100F, go ahead and submit the sample.

Once you pour the QF into the sample cup, avoid setting the cup on a cold surface. I often grab several sheets of toilet paper and fab up a makeshift "coaster" to set the cup on as I zip back up, etc.
