    t5 mistake?

    Hey all,

Today I got some shtuff for my first grow. I was pretty excited and over zealous in my shopping so now, I am second guessing one of my choices. I got a 90w tri band LED ufo, I am happy with this. I also got a pair of 2' 24 watt T5 fixtures and 4 bulbs, 2 grow and 2 bloom. My tent is 36"w x 20"d x 64"h, and is 100% mylar interior. I plan on having one on each of the rear support poles. Are these going to be of any benefit too my girls if they are 24" away? I keep thinking I would have been better off with 4 35 watt cfls instead. I could have put them in clamp-on reflective fixtures and been able to get that much closer to the girls.

I know I can always add the cfls later but, I am at my current budget limit so they will have too wait.

Well the choice was actually made for me. I was playing with my new toys and plugged everything in. I discovered neither of the 2 foot fixtures works. I am hoping HTG makes good on this. I am not driving back there again to exchange. I will have to ship them back. I am sure if I pay to return ship and also purchase my cfls and fixtures therefore upgrading my purchase, they should be ok with that. At least I hope so.

I've not had trouble dealing with HTG. If anything screws up as long as you have the documents they are very good.

I bought my bloom bulbs from them high tech garden supply. I saw their T5 24x2 lamp, but I went with the sunblaze 24x2 locally. It worked excellent while I was able to use it. I will again in the future and I like my T5s. Energy efficiency. Alas, I will have to start over to see how my 46 performs with the bloom bulbs.

bk, T5HO bulbs do the most good when they are very close to the top of the plants. 24" away is for HID lighting not T5HO light.

I have to agree with others in saying the HTG has always done right by me. Unless I am misreading the tone of your post I urge you to not go into efforts to resolve your problem with the product you got from them with such a negative attitude.

    just saying,

Thanks Max! Actually as a follow up to my original follow up. The people at HTG in PA were great about the whole thing as was the guy in Charlotte that assisted me. They are sending me the 35w cfls and a few extras to make up the cost difference. I have bought some clamp on fixtures with reflectors and I can place these inches away from the girls. Most of the posts I have read regarding the combo of LED and cfl suggest to me, my set up should perform quite well.

To anyone looking for some equipment from a reputable company with fast shipping and great customer service. I also got my tent from them on an ebay auction. I paid on the 11th it is in my house today 2/15. HTG is a great place too shop IMHO
