Daily Caller: ??Is The DEA Legalizing THC??

The DEA is at it again folks!
    ------------------------------------------------

Reporter Mike Riggs at The Daily Caller has an important story online today revealing how U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration officials are making plans to reschedule natural THC under federal law.

Under the plan, THC derived from the marijuana plant would be classified as a Schedule III controlled substance, while the plant itself would remain classified as a Schedule I illegal drug. Sound fishy? It is.

As a DEA spokesperson quoted in the story explains, ??THC, natural or synthetic, remains a schedule I controlled substance. Under the proposed rule, in those instances in the future where FDA might approve a generic version of Marinol, that version of the drug will be in the same schedule as the brand name version of the drug, regardless of whether the THC used in the generic version was synthesized by man or derived from the cannabis plant.?

So, in other words, if a pharmaceutical product contains THC extracted from the marijuana plant, that would be a legal commodity. But if you or I possessed THC extracted from the marijuana plant, that an remains illegal commodity.

Wait, it gets even more absurd.

Since the cannabis plant itself will remain illegal under federal law, then from whom precisely could Big Pharma legally obtain their soon-to-be legal THC extracts? There??s only one answer: The federal government??s lone legally licensed marijuana cultivator, The University of Mississippi at Oxford, which already has the licensing agreements with the pharmaceutical industry in hand.

Riggs writes: In other words, THC in plant form or as an extract, will still be illegal. What won??t be illegal is if a pharmaceutical company buys THC from a government-licensed provider, puts it in a pill, receives the DEA??s stamp of approval, and sells it a price that will likely be far higher than the price of marijuana.

Armentano said such circular reasoning is a product of decades of hostility towards marijuana research.

??This is the insane rationale necessary for banning medical marijuana,? he said. ??Take away the prohibition and the political elements, and you would never have the stretching of logic necessary to pass organic THC but only if it mimics Marinol.?

Expect the DEA??s ??stretching of logic?? to become even more absurd in the future.

that's interesting because they just recently put synthetic cannabinoids into schedule i. but since it was a temporary placement, I'm sure they have other plans for it.

Well if they can do all of this then their objective would be to knock out medical marijuana possibly by letting doctors know that this is available and that they can recommend this to their patients to try the synthetic pill rather than the more natural form. But I'm sure when the patients start complaining about the negative side effects of this synthetic form they will be smart enough to go back or just not even stray from the natural plant.

The laws and prohibition against cannabis are against humanity, human decency, and morality. We no longer live a moral, decent, country. We live in a country of persecutors regardless of a person's race, gender, national origin, or disadvantaged. If they can't cause people to hate one thing, they will use another. And throwing people in jail for using cannabis is an inhuman activity almost as bad as the Holocaust. The Cannabis Holocaust didn't kill, it just maimed to where people became second and third class citizens. And these people want my respect. No way. :twocents:

in regards to what you said about "The Cannabis Holocaust didn't kill...."
think about the ppl in prison who have spent their lives died in there for cannabis related charges. Think of all the sick people who died because they couldnt get the treatment they deserve because the government has a stick up their ass. marijuana prohibition is taking more lives than saving.

Millions? About half a million Americans died in WWII. Exaggerating to make a point is understandable, but to compare pot with the holocaust...... I don??t even know how to address that. The world is not as bad as you want to think, and America is the greatest country in the world! We may be wrong on the marijuana front, but we are making steps every day to become a better country. Don??t complain unless you are actively taking steps to change the situation. Not being rude, just want to point that out.

Not to argue, but the Europeans lost far more people and troops then we did. A drop in the bucket. But the damage, persecution and prosecution of millions has killed millions. Death comes in many ways, and sometimes its a living death. Death of your rights, dignity, available opportunities beside deaths from not having access to cannabis for HIV/AIDS patients and others whom it could have possibly saved throughout the world.

Common sense dictates, everything born was born to die...

Holocaust= severe suffering, human torture. There is no other real non-emotional definition.

Let's also not forget cannabis was here before WWII by about 4000+ years. And the amount of lives lost because of cannabis prohibition is ??????????????????????? way more than we could ever imagine.

In regards to the original post it is a clear demonstration of what has become the FDA's defacto job, that of protecting Big Pharma's profit generating products.

This is due in great part to the revolving door employment situation between FDA and the major pharmacutical companies. Here is how it works.

Far too many higher level FDA workers are getting jobs with major Pharma companies after retiring from the FDA and starting to collect the lavish govt pensions. It is well know by them that they can have lucrative careers in the private sector of Big Pharma only if they "see the light" and "play ball" while in their FDA career. This situation is nearly identical to the situation in the Military-Industrial complex wherein Pentagon officials receive cushy jobs with military and munitions industry companies after retiring and starting their pensions.

Even if this situation is not expressly mentioned it is certainly well known and established. It would take a great deal of integrity for these people decline to be influenced by this sytemic problem. Most just finally give in and accept it as the way things are. Those who struggle to maintain at least some dignity and integrity are always "under the thumb" of higher-ups who are a part of the corrupt process. Power currupts. Hidden bribery is the result of this corruption. Very difficult to stop this type of stuff.
Never argue with a fool: 1) People watching can not tell who is who 2) They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience
