Hell, I may as well join the old farts parade . . .

I remember when a quarter (my allowance) would buy me a comic book, some candy, & a root beer at the Rexall. I favored tootsie roll pops (2 for 1 cent)

Comic book - 12 cents
tootsie roll pops - 1 cent
root beer - 10 cents

The other 2 cents I'd either keep or blow on a mitt full of bazooka joe.

We used to scrounge for returnable bottles at 2 cents each. Steady source of income on those days.

Haven't had one of those in years. I liked mine frozen. I don't know why though, they're hard enough to eat.

Oh yeah, frozen are the best! I think when you freeze them, it makes it easier not to get all the gunk when they're unfrozen, in between your teeth. :jointsmile:

I remember searching all over town for pop bottles to return for cash 5 cents per bottle . 25 cent soda and penny candy out the waaaa zooo. for a buck you could get lots. I even remember going into the store and getting 25 cents worth of pepperoni and that purchased almost 1/4 pound. made for good snack out playing ball with friends of fishing. now penny candy is 25 cents and that candy bar that was 15 cents i s now a dollar. THE HECK WITH CANDY JUST WISH i BOUGHT SILVER WHEN IT WAS TWO DOLLARSAN OUNCE !

dang... you all must really really be old! lol

That's OK though... you might all have wrinkles, no teeth, gray hair and creaky bones, but the experiences and knowledge you have gathered through the years makes up for any slowness, forgetfulness and well earned cantankerousness you might have these days. I am honored to learn from all you centenarians here on this board. Just don't tell all my young friends that I hang out with old people... I do have a reputation to maintain!
