Lemme ask ya this.. Do you have Central heating? Are the registers (grills) on the floor or ceiling? I can help ya by know this. That way if they are on the floor. You could add a vent hole in or near your room. Later you'll be able to put a boot in the hole you cut, none the wiser.

I love ventilation issues as well.
Okay, so lets give you a task. Fan 750 cfm Vortex. Filter 39" long rated at 950 cfm. For the very reason of not working the fan so hard I went the size up. I want to reduce the noise, I liked it quieter, but don't want to loose cfm...too humid here, got to have extra air flow for the humid environment.

Does it have any help on the outflow by using over sized filter?

How does one reduce noise on the outflow without working the fan more. Can't go under floor boards. Maybe another pre filter same size as can? Will that cut the noise and not over work the fan?

If your filter is rated at 950 cfm.. Then that would tell me that those are the scrubbing cfm rating. Which is recirculated in the room. You would have a rating of a lower cfm for exhaust.. Thats pulling, through the filter (pulling).. With humidity 80% or more your gonna have to buy a new filter in 8-10 months. You can control the humidity inside the room, but you can't outside the walls of your home.

Here is what you do to your fan. The straighter the runs and shorter you have them mean alot. Even how tight they get pulled. Flex that is not pulled tight, even in a straight line.. Eat cfm's for lunch! Every bend subtracts total cfm, depending on how many bends and turns you make.

Then your gonna insulate the whole fan as if it were covered in a blanket. Or you can use a blanket.. Your gonna do about a ft. or 2 of the ducting you have on both sides of the fan.Insulate.. It'll make things alot better for ya! But... I should mention. If you put the filter on the exhaust end.Your filter will last longer.

Does it have any help on the outflow by using over sized filter?

Yes.. But not much.. You have more air trying to find a way out, than gets out.. Backpressure from the endcap is pushing it's way back into the fan housing.. Negative pressure.. High static pressure. You end up just churnin' the air.

I have a 12" vortex running through a muffler 2ft off of it then ducting out the house. It runs very quiet.
