It shouldn't maintain that smell too long if you set it out, but to hurry it I would get a paper grocery sack and spray the inside of it very thoroughly with Febreze. Throw the money in there loose and tie up the top. Let it sit in there overnight and in the morning you will have fresh smelling money.

The other method is to send me all the money and I will replace it. Promise. Minus a small handling fee that is.

Good luck, but it should not be a big issue. Hell, just take it to the bank and tell them what happened. I am sure they will understand and no one is going to try to arrest you for smelling up currency.

I am sorry about the loss of your grandfather. He sounds like he was a fun old guy and I imagine that you miss him a lot. The question I have is: along with the money, did he leave you any stash?
