Easyryder in closet. First grow!
Hail, fellow growers!
For a long time now I've been thinking of growing a nice little lowryder or easyryder in my closet. Now the time has come! I've already started the grow, so without further ado, here's how it's been so far!
First I ordered 3 femenized lowryder seeds online and waited eagerly. I got them about a week later, and by that time I had ordered lightbulbs as well.
Christmas came and went, and after it I bought all the necessary items I needed to start building! Here's the final product.
Sure, it might look a bit untidy, but that's just to get the plant closer to the lights now that it's so small. The "box" is equipped with one 120mm fan in the front, and one in the back. Just like a computer, so that the airflow will be good. There's also mylar on all the walls to reflect as much light as possible.
To show how the light system is, I made a horrible looking sketch in MSpaint. Have a look-see!
The plate that holds the lamps are hung up with cord to the top of the closet, so that I can lift and lower it according to plant height.
It was time to germinate the seed. I put the seed in some moist paper towel for two or three days, and the seed started sprouting!
So with the timer set to 18 hours light and 6 hours dark, and with another fan inside the box to substitute wind, I was ready to plant!
I went ahead and filled up a small pot with some nice Light-Mix from Biobizz. After that, I planted the seed, and watered it gently with tap water.
After about 2 days I was happy to see that the seed was beginning to become a plant!
The air was and is very, very dry here, so I put in 4 glasses of water, which raised the air humidity to about 25%. Not very much, but it will have to do, as I can't afford buying a humidifier.
The temperature was good though, staying at about 27-30 degrees celcius.
Because of the dry air, the soil quickly became dry, and so I watered it again, this time regulating the PH to about 5.5 using lemon juice!
Two days went by, and my little girl had become a nice little plant.
Today is day 5, and it's looking really healthy! It got a deep green color, and it's full of small hairs. No yellowing of leaves or any of that creepy stuff.
In a couple of days, or maybe even tomorrow, I will start using nutrients provided by Biobizz. It's time for it to start getting some real food! Organic, of course.
I'll upload another picture in a couple of days, so you guys can see how it looks, so stay tuned!Quantonium Reviewed by Quantonium on . Easyryder in closet. First grow! Hail, fellow growers! Easyryder in closet. First grow!
Another couple of days have passed. It turned out that it was the large wind-fan that made the soil dry out so quickly. I had it turned off for a day. Today I fed it it's first nutrients, and hope it will like it's food. Here's a picture!

Looks good so far. Nice job on the box, should suit all your needs just fine.:thumbsup:
Only question I got is, why are you pHing your water down to 5.5? 6.5-7.0 is usually the range you want to shoot for growing in soil, but like I said looks good so far. My brother grows lowryder #2 quite often, so I'll be curious the differences between the two as yours start to get older.

Interesting, I've always heard you should have it at 5.5-6. It says so on my PH-kit as well. I guess I'll have to check this up.

Your baby looks great btw keep up the good work. New growers unite!!!

Thanks for all the nice tips! About the fans, it sounds logical what you say, and I might do such a thing in the future, but for now, I'm not sure if I'll do that. It makes a lot of noise as it is, and I'd had to mod the electricity system again, which was creepy enough the first time. :P We'll see though, it's good to know of nonetheless.
Cool to see that chart! I will definitely try having my ph at that level from now on. I do have a problem though. My nutrients make the water brown, and I would believe that affects the color of the PH tested water, no? My PH kit is basically a small vial where i put a little water in, and a few drops of a solution. Then check the color of the water on a chart. If it is already brown to begin with, wouldn't that make it look more acidic on the chart?

Yes that is the problem with the liquid tests kits. I'm still currently using the same setup, but plan on buying an electronic pH testing pen(much more accurate if calibrated often). I've been using the liquid for awhile now and I've found that I can tell pretty accurately by watching the instant the drops hit the water before it dissolves into the water. However a pH pen is the way to go.:thumbsup:
