I'm not into alcohol very much myself either. My mom doesn't drink and my dad only drinks once in a blue moon, only during social occasions and even then he only has a beer or two...never enough to become visibly drunk. Nevertheless, there was always alcohol in the house (people would sometimes gift my parents alcohol not knowing that they don't like to get drunk). They both used to smoke cigarettes and both quit before they started having children. But talk about stoners! My mom is the only person I know who smokes as much weed every day as I do. My dad doesn't smoke quite as much but he's still a daily toker.

They allowed me to make all my own decisions about what I wanted to put in my body since I became a teenager. However, they knew first-hand how addictive tobacco is so they signed a contract with me, my brother and my sister promising that if we didn't smoke tobacco, they would pay us $50 each every six months for the rest of our lives and would give us each $1,000 when we turn 21. To date none of us have tried it.

But I tried alcohol about five or six times in my teenage years and never really got a positive experience out of it so I just stopped altogether sometime in high school (well, I had a couple beers at my friend's graduation party after that but it tasted like shit and I haven't drank since then).

My junior year of high school my sister was smoking a bowl and I asked her if I could try it. She did, and I don't remember too much about that experience except that I coughed a lot. About a year after that I started smoking weed regularly myself, and the rest is history.

My parents are supportive of my decision to not drink, and they still smoke me up every time I see them. I couldn't have asked for better parents.
