how much for a small setup??

Around $50-100 depending on what you get and where you get it from...

Around here: 4 pack cfl's(23w=100w) COST - $10, y splitters @$3 ea and extension cord's @$3 and then the little piece to convert the socket to a plug at $4 ea (I know expensive right), soil @$10 a bag, pots $5-15,fan $5-20,heater/dehumidifier(optional) cost $10-50+, fertilizers @ about $10, ph test kit/pen/strips $2-100, and seeds at $30-250+ LOL

Add that up (those prices are just what is around my area) might diff from place to place but add that up, it's a rough estimate.
