pain control
I need to use Cannabis for pain. Having said that, which will give me the longest relief; smoking with a bong, or using a Cannabis tincture?;
? I've never been a smoker so smoking a joint or pipe won't work as I choke, and cough it all right back out. Thanks in advance for any help!

If you want relief quick, take a few hits off the bong or use the tincture (tinctures are absorbed through the mouth, like gums and tongue) so they hit you pretty quick too.
If you want lasting relief use an edible. They take longer to act (give each edible try at least 2 hours to work, even though it may work quicker). Edibles also give you more of a body high, which I have found to be perfect for pain. I have had an edible last most of the night for sleeping even, it all depends on the strength of the edible. If you want to try one, be sure to ask the BT you get it from the potency and how much to try at first.
Now the trick I have found for myself (& I have a HIGH tolerance so this may be too much for the average toker) is to:
1-ingest the edible
2-vaporize a good dank Indica or take the tincture or smoke, and only a little (gives you a little boost, BUT once taken that's it, you have to ride it out if it is too much) which I have rarely gotten to (I have a high tolerance).
3- pass out and sleep
I guess that is pretty much my nighttime routine.
For daytime perhaps try an edible that is made of a Hybrid or perhaps even a Sativa. I have seen these types of edibles at one of the dispensaries around O.C..
I find that vaporizing, even if it is a Sativa, still gives me a bit of a body high (more so than smoking the same strain), and it doesn't hurt my lungs as badly to do it that way.
That is all I can think of this early... hope this helps!

A tincture will work quickly but the effect will not last that long. A medible will work in 53 to 70 minutes to feel the effect and sleep any time after that. Smoking also works quickly but seems too hard for you. Get a vaporizer and you can easily take hits that will give the desired effect. Make sure you get used to the correct temp setting in the vaporizer or it will just be like smoking a pipe and is very harsh.

You are probably best off using edibles or vaporizing.
Edibles can take from 1 - 3 hours to kick in, depending on four things:
- How strong they are
- How much you ate
- How much food was already in your system
- How fast your metabolism is
Edibles also tend to keep active in your system much longer than smoking or tinctures.
Vaporizing can get the meds into your system with little or no smoke in the lungs.
Good Luck.
