the lesser effects of cookin weed
I think the biggest influence on the effects of baked goods is how empty your stomach is when you ingest them. Drinkers are advised to have food in their stomachs and to nip at food as they drink to dilute the amount of alcohol going into their bloodstream. Consuming edibles requires a reverse straregy, you want the thc to be the primary thing entering your bloodstream. I try to avoid eating for as long as possible before consuming, and I try to use as little liquid as possible washing down the edibles.
For me the ideal edible is a firecracker made on Wheat Thins or Breton's Mini Crackers. Very little extra food product. I put a little peanut butter on each cracker, spread weed on one cracker, put the other on top, squish it around a bit to distribute the weed, wrap in foil folding the edges of the foil together to try and seal in the heat and then bake at 300F for 20 minutes. I used to use 320x22, but the PB was always a little burnt. These taste better. I use Jig peanut butter, some make a big deal about organic/natural PB, but the predominate fat in any PB is saturated fat (like butter) and it works fine for me.
I do sometimes eat a cracker or two as I make the firecrackers on the theory that have a little something in my stomach might have my digestive juices already flowing when I eat the firecracker after baking and letting it cool.
