    Quality at local Co-ops?

For a while I've been going to Berkley Patients Group in Berkley which is very legitimate although usually pretty busy and a slightly annoying drive from where I am. I was recently turned on to a local co-op.

This place, unlike the Berkley place, is pretty shady. There are no signs or anything on the door, and the way itā??s setup it would look to a bystander like it was some sort of utility extension to the nearby local shop rather than a place of its own.

The stuff I've gotten from there just smells heads and tails above pretty much any other weed I've gotten for a long time, including $60 top tier 8ths from the BPG. The stuff is also VERY sticky, like just breaking off a small bud to pack in a pipe will leave your fingers smelling like sticky bud for the next hour. It also has very good taste when you smoke it.

But the stuff is a bit harsh on the lungs in general. In addition to coughing a bit more than normal my lungs just seemed sore in general this morning after smoking just a normal few bowls last night.

I've heard stories about people spraying all kinds of chemicals on their weed to try and make it smell better, even stuff like Windex. I wonder if there is any truth to that.

In general I'm a bit suspicious about this co-op. While I was at the counter, I asked for a recommendation on which bud to get. The guy grabs a jar and pulls out a bud ā?? which like the other stuff smells just out of this world. The guy tells me ā??Itā??s her favoriteā? referring to the owner of the Co-op who was also in the building. I decided to get some. A minute or so later when I was still at the counter, the owner chick came behind the counter and whispered to the guy ā??What did you tell him?ā? to which the guy replied ā??I told him itā??s your favoriteā?. Meanwhile Iā??m thinking to myself ā??Iā??m 3 feet away, I can hear everything youā??re sayingā?¦..ā?

Overall it left me with mixed feelings about this place. Iā??ve never doubted the quality of the stuff I get from BPG, but this stuff really is a league above anything Iā??ve ever got from BPG in terms of taste, smell, and stickiness. But I donā??t know enough about growing to know what you have to do to achieve that sort of super-smelly, sticky bud, and what potential compromises might have to be made in other areas. The vibe I got from this place, I wouldnā??t be surprised if they are ā??doing somethingā? to the weed to make it smell that good in order to sell more of itā?¦ but Iā??d also like to believe they are just really good at growing since the place is much closer to my house. Iā??m just not sure.

bay area quality is good . it also depends on who samples it. every club has a designated taster/smoker. i have taken in samples to vend, 1 place loves it and calls till i pick up cuz they want it all!. others say we pass its harsh or whatever.same batch/process. aquired taste i guess!!!!!!!!

    Quality at local Co-ops?

Hi, I've been searching the forums looking for something on this subject. Your post said it all. I am so weary of going to the club, seeing and smelling what seems to be the BOMB! I'm talking top shelf meds at 50 dollars an 1/8th. I get my goodies home. Fill my bubbler and get ready to relax and veg. I light, inhale...and then...cough, cough, cough....and the taste in my mouth is like...chemicals or incense maybe...

If I continue to toke on it I get an upset tummy and just feel awful!!!
HOW or WHERE IN THE HELL CAN I GET CONSISTANLY GOOD MEDS? HELP!!

Remember when...once a year the dude from humbolt or...would come down with the sensimillia or however you spell it....

Yeah, most times the weed is good but this other thing is happening way TOO OFTEN!

    Thanks for any feedback

Pardon my ignorance as I'm not much a grower, but what does it mean to "cure" your bud?

Curing- is the process used to dry the buds.. which is either stripping a majority of the leaves off the bud and hanging it on a wire until they are dry.. then taking them off the stem and trimming them down to ur desired look(some people trim tight, and some people leave the buds looser with a little more leaf).. or another method is cutting the buds off the plant wet and trimming down to the desired trim. then putting them in a hanging net or a rack and let them dry until the stem snaps..... In between there are a few steps where you put the bud in a bag to let it draw moisture from the stem and then place it back on the rack... a usual curing job takes bout 4-6 days to be done right depending on the humidity.

also the bud might have been grade A, but the person who grew the bud might not have flushed the plant enough before harvesting.. and a lot of the co-ops dont grow there own bud. they buy from local growers..

my bet is that they aren't flushing properly before harvesting. nothing is essentially "wrong" with the bud. you're just smoking nute and fert chemicals and byproducts too, not just bud. and honestly, it doesn't really cause any "known" damage, but WTF does our FDA know? look whats legal and what isn't... i suggest not buying from dispensaries at all and just growing your own. maybe start your own dispensary if you've got the time to do so. just an idea...
