I think that if the roots don't get the requires nutrient via osmosis it will defintely show....as far as severe ph difference or extreme fluctuation it usually show as weird deformed leaf growth, burn or bute defi=eciencies, be careful not to confuse defecient with lock out...lock out occurs when the ph is off so the roots cant uptake the nutrient salt but there is plenty available..I think...better ask a professional that knows...please research all my answers because alot of time I misunderstand myslef so do not change your garden on my opinion as I am an ever learning student too..
