Got a 1000w hps light, with 5 plants

I dont have any ventilation set up yet, and the plants are like 2-3 feet away from the lights. A friend of mine told me that I am using too much light, and that I will burn the plants, but I havent seen any signs of them being burned. I am using that floranova stuff, and am using foxfarm soil. I am not filtering my water for ph, and the plants ph is around 7. temperature is at about 60-80. I will post pics soon, maybe. first post here. It is like a 6 by 6 area, with about 10 feet for the heighth. The strains are GDP, afghan kush, lemon og kush, and snocap

I just topped pretty much all of them, and they all seem to be doing great. not like excellent but really good. no prob really cept that I havent got the exhaust hooked up yet. Im gonna clean this shed up, and probably use the other half as a veg room, with it all closed off an everything. that might be my next grow though. What I want is a scrog grow with aeroponics, but that costs more money lol.

6x6 is perfect for a 1000w, your canopy should be about 18-24" from the light, so drop the light a little your not using too much

Ok i topped off all of the plants, and while i did that(that day) the leaves got to like a lighter shade of green, and the tips of some of the older leaves burnt off. i think it is like a yellowish grey at the tips. That happened maybe 48 hours ago. I stopped giving it nutrients, only water now, i stopped spraying the leaves(?), and raised the light from like 20 inches to about 3 feet. Things are already looking better, and i am getting mad sprouts around where i topped the plant. I tried not to worry too much about it, and not let it get to me, and it all worked out fine. gasp of releif.

things are going great now. just got 5 gallon buckets from home depot, and some of that reflective shit for the walls. almost got some ducting for the exhaust, but didnt. you can get 6 inch ducting, 25 feet of it, for like 21 dollars. another two fans from like lowes or something is about 50 bucks. thats like a 70 or 80 dollar complete exhaust system.
