The debate: how long on the stove?
I've heard several theories. When making cannabutter, this site advocates cooking the cannabis for 22-24 hours. Some have said 1 hour is enough. Others 3. Still others 12-18.
Is there a best answer? What has everyone here done to make their butter?

Ide say no more than 4 hours in a crock pot stirring every 30 min. Mine comes out amazing when I do it for that long. Make sure you grind it up good in a coffee grinder or magic bullet first. Do u make yours with water and butter so it separates in the fridge? I feel like that varies time too. But that's what I do.

I haven't made any as of yet. I'm also curious as to the purpose of the grinding. All of it is strained at the end of the process any way. Does grinding the cannabis to a powder help transfer the cannaboids to the butter more efficiently?

Until the cannabis is completely and utterly browned. I never cook for longer than 15 minutes, and that's on medium.

The debate: how long on the stove?
I have investigated this topic as of late. I had seen the threads advocating 20-24 hours to slow cook butter and I felt discouraged because I don't have that kind of time ever.
But then I thought about firecrackers. They only cook for 20-30 minutes and they work great! I think it is because with firecrackers, the person actually eats the erb. So I think the answer is: if you are going to strain your butter, slow cook it for a long time. But if you are lazy and don't want to strain, you probably only need to cook it for an hour or so. I know a chic who only cooks her butter for 30 minutes, but doesn't strain, and her brownies are good. If it really took hours and hours, firecrackers wouldn't work.

Cherrimook: We simmer ours for 24 hours. This lets all of the cannanoids and thc throughly get into the butter. Even better is making ghee butter. Thats with unsalted butter. It lasts longer to.
