When can I take cuttings? Don't want to veg much long?

**Do you necessarily need a cloning gel/powder? Or can you just cut the stem at 45degree angle and your okay to plant in peat moss+humid dome or cup of water/covered with plastic wrap.
PS. My strain is (bubblegum x og kush) -> Bubba Kush
80/20 - indica/sativa

I've heard both way's, but why risk it? A bottle of Clonex is $21 (depending on where you live) And I'm less than halfway thru mine with around 200 clones cut.


As for Seed growing,... I've got limited experience with seed grows, but they seem to take longer to vege, tho produce better than clone grows in flower.

However, I haven't done a blind test, so most of that is just from hearsay ATM My Seed Grows are fixing to come down in the next month, and i took clones,.... time will tell on the cloning thing I guess! imp:

I want to do a side by side, "From seed" and "Clone" grow in flower,..... trouble is working out the timing given the sexing of the seedling.....

Still running 18/6 (on/off) lighting. My plant is indica dominate (bubba kush) and is only about 3-4&1/2 inches tall. It does not look like I can take a cutting from it right now... also it is fairly 'bushy' but very short. Any ideas on what I can do. I only have that one right now and water at least 3 or 4 girlys :thumbsup: ...(honestly have no idea on the sex of the plant but I like girls more LOL :jointsmile:) Rating: 5

That would be very interesting to see (clone vs seed grow)
And about you not growing but smoking bubba kush(bubble gum x OG kush)...how was is? Body high? flavor? etc...
Also I am extremly tight on cash so my goal this time was to be able to get my money back and some for future.. upgrades/products/ferts/clone solutions etc... it is just for my personal use and another family member so ...
MY QUESTION: would I be able to manage without the cloning solution for this first time?

I puff so little that pretty much everything knocks me out.

However by comparison to the strains I've grown it was more towards the sativa end of the spectrum. A bit heady, and energetic. Would be a pretty functional med as in you can still function in daily life while on it. Flavor was decent,... again tho I don't puff much, so I can't really describe differences.



For your 2nd question, I suppose you could give it a try without any solutions, but I haven't heard of great success unless using one of those aeroponic cloners.


As for being tight on cash and trying to make any back,...... Your gonna want the plant to be MUCH bigger than about 4" tall before trying to take a clone. Keep veging get it sexed, then let it get about a foot or so tall, by then it should have some good size branches.

You can take the tops of branches, and the top of the plant as clones. I've seen clones in dispensary's that were 3 nodes taken from the middle of a branch. If your gonna try and do it for cheap, your gonna want backups so if one dies there's others still left.

ive done clones with just plain water, and id go with a gel/powder anyday. rooting ratios are 95-99% with and 50-65% without. agreed, on the backup deal nothing worse than losing a prize strain.

Hey Canna,
Your so so right on the seed harvest versus clone. I have skunk from seed and Big Bud from clones. The Skunk has much denser buds and sturdy stalks than the Big Bud. By comparison the seed crop will yeild as much as the clones would visually,but but weight will be more than my clones do. Here is a pic of the density in the skunk. The Big Bud has fat buds but are somewhat fluffy and go to denser at the tips. The plants are even smaller,(skunk).

If it's female and has seeds are those 100% female seeds then ("feminized seeds")? Appox how many seeds can you get after taking a "male" seed through a good veg and 8-10weeks flowering?

males have balls, these balls have pollen, pollen will travel to the the spread legs of the female which is two hairs split apart. more hairs will form and more pollen released and voila you could literally have no useable bud...just seed. pollen lands on the hairs to form as as seeds and combine genetics between the male and female. buds, and thc form to protect the seed structure. for 99.9% female seeds you need a female plant and force it to hermie and use that pollen on the same cutting of the forced plant. the subsequent seeds will be female. males by themselves cannot seed, they can however make you sneeze.

So from a regular male plant I won't really get any seeds? And not really get any bud either? In other words, It is completely useless for the "first time grower"
Ps. Just thought I'd ask because this is my only plant - If it turns out to be male and has no buds or no seeds could I take all the useable leaves and maybe make some type of canna-butter, hash, oil..anything out of it?

Also just thought I'd post this: I have been doing quite a bit of reading about preflower-sexing. Mines has quite a few of these little thin green (string like) things coming of the main stem... not quite sure how to describe them.

in the link, that would be a female. keep in mind hermied plants may may appear female on the onset but can still have male pods. they usually sway more one way or the other. meaning either mostly female or mostly male. just keep an eye out for that possibility. the green things you speak of are not what your looking for its the thin wirey white hairs that come out where those green things are. the females are called pistils males are stamens. stamens to the untrained eye may appear female in the beginning. so be patient. a magnifying glass is most helpful.
