    Germination

How fast do they normally germinate for you guys? Mine are taking really long but I have many seeds in the germination process but in different ways to see which one works best. These are the ways I used:

    Putting in glass of water.
Pouring water that was heated in microwave for 2 minutes that cooled down on a folded napkin and put seeds in there. Then placed napkin in bag. Placed bag over computer monitor (about 70-80 degrees).
    and last but not least...
The natural way of just putting em in moist soil.

    Any comments would be nice.

EDIT: Also are they supposed to slightly change colors as theyre germinating? Mine are getting darker in some places and lighter in others.

You make it sound complicated! lol

I only use the wet paper towel method when I'm using old seed stock. Because the germination rate is lower with older seeds, I want to see which seeds are viable before I plant them in soil so I'm not wasting my time. But if I've just bought some brand new seeds, say a pack of 10 or 12, I'll fill a pot with soil for each seed, push the seeds into the soil and water it, then place a bag over the top of the pots to keep the moisture in- simple.

The only colour change I see in germinating seeds is that their shells get darker because they're wet, that's all. They swell up a little too. The colour's not important, don't worry about it.

place 2 pieces of toilet paper into a lunchbox. then soak sheets with nomal tap water. drop seeds in on top of wet sheets .replace lid on lunchbox leaving 1 coner slightly open to allow for air and water to evapourate.place lunchbox into a heated dark hotpress or cuboard.check every 24 hours keep paper wet not soaked

I pulled out the ones in the soil because I WAS going to just throw them away since I thought they weren't germinating after about 3 days but then I found that 2 of those germinated too! So now I have 3 plants on their way to stardom! !

plant your seeds half an inch below soil surface (1st knuckle of pointer finger is my guide) and keep soil warm (65f+) and moist...never soaked or dry...mosit and warm is the key. they'll sprout (break surface) in 3-5 days...some a few days longer. after 12-14 days, replant. i plant into the 1 gal pots they'll be growing until sexing time...by then they're rootbound and the females ready for 5's or the ground...compost heap for the males.

What do I do to transplant? I don't think I'm supposed to just yank em out. Cuz right now since they are indeed my first plants they're in 1 gal pots.

squeeze ur pot all around it with both hands right to the bottom making a loose space between ur soil and the side of ur pot. Then grab the bottom of ur plant right at the soil about an inch up with one hand and lift up a bit holding it steady and with the other hand loosen ur pot by twisting and pulling it down off the rooted soil. Have ur bigger pot about 1/4 filled with ur soil and put it in and fill it by covering it up with ur fresh soil right to the top of ur new pot. Then water it well. Dont forget that a big pot of soil soaks up alot of water so then u'l let it dry for 2-3 days before u water it regularily with less water and u might even add a bit more soil to the top of ur new pot because ur soil will settle down in the new pot. Go roots Go
