Appointment coming up with pain management physician - tensions high...

I've got constant pain from knee surgery plus back pain, hip arthritis and issues in my ankles and other knee. Sleep issues, trouble sleeping through the night, and getting up in the morning is an unbearable project, everything hurts daily.

Not really sure how to bring up that I'd like to have a referral other than the fact that none of the pills I've been put on do anything to help me and only cause reactions that I'd prefer to rid myself of. I know MMJ can work for me,and I have read elsewhere that it's not a good idea to mention that so what can I say that might help my case? I've gotten a referral to this MD from my primary doctor and my chiropracter is also sending a fax as to my issues.
Should I also bring a completed patient form or just let things happen on their own?

Also, might be a bit too hopeful here but I'm very interested in being my own caregiver, would that mean I can only have one additional caregiver or still two?
Hopefully I'll be on the lookout for a caregiver or two soon.

(note: the physician I'm seeing is one on the publicized list)

A PATIENT CAN GROW 12 AND 12 AND ALSO AVE 2 OTHER CAREGIVERS TAT CAN ALSO GROW 12 AND 12..mature /immature.

If this is your first time seeing this Dr i would tell im just as u said here..NONE of the pills you have been prescribed help you and cause u more issues ,And you feel that MMJ will help more then the pills do.If he truly is looking for your well-being then he should at least consider it..BUT most dont and wont..Good luck.

I think if your going to a "Pain management Physican" you would have better luck with a primary care physican. It is my experience that they want you to solve your pain thru Physical therapy and no Drug of anysort.I believe they view MMJ like any other Painblocking medication.Pain relief thru a drug is not a option.

In my opinion a knowledgable and informed medical history, procedural and experiences with different meds, ie. pain killers, muscle relaxers, etc..., in my limited experience here with physicians is if you are up front and honest about the relief you get, the "worry" of doing something "illegal" without the recomendation. A good doctor will recomend based upon the theory that conventional treatment options have failed, I would also look for doctors whom are on the old ProJo article list...after all if some were willing to speak publicly about it then maybe they will still have the same compassion within their office walls. Doctors do not need to be convinced it's legal, they need to be convinced it's unethical not to recomend....good luck!

My appointment is with a physician on the ProJo list, I think that may be a step in the right direction there. I've been on several meds for my pain and really none work, or give unwelcomed side effects or work for a bit then I have to eat them like candy to get any relief, that's not where I want to be.
MMJ has worked for me sans any other meds. The pain is less or I don't even notice it, it has helped me sleep through the night and I don't feel crippled in the morning, it has helped with my back pain, apnea and arthritis. If they really care about my comfort level and I can get this message across to them without sounding like I want the card for frivolous reasons then I pray all will go well.
    Thanks for your support.
Anyone going to that RIPAC meeting Tuesday Jan 11? I haven't been to a meeting before and am thinking about it.

Good Luck..Just make it a point of need and well-being and make it clear that MMJ is the only medications that actually help you Tolerate and maintain the pains etc.

Appointment coming up with pain management physician - tensions high...

    Well, today's the day.
In about 2 hrs I'll be seeing a pain mgt. physician.

Got my papers in order and partially filled out (no date or physician info).
Should I bring them in with me or just let the chips fall where they may and see what happens?

Later today I'll post how the appointment went.
