    Questions about grow tent

:thumbsup:I am about to do my 3rd grow, and I have some experience, but I am a caregiver, and I am looking to yield a pound in this next harvest, but I have a question..

I am going to be getting a 4.5x4.5x7 grow tent. I figured a 600w HPS would be good for flowering six plants, and I am getting an adjust-a-wing, and using a 270cfm exhaust fan, but no intake because I figured the negative pressure would be sufficient enough to replace the air through the vent flaps.

Please tell me what you think, if this is not good enough, should I upgrade to a 1000 watt. I figured it would be too hot for a grow tent that size without the proper air cooled hood system..

I am open to any suggestions.

    Questions about grow tent

    Hello ThreeKingsRP,

First off, IMHO, 600w HPS is good for abt 3'x3'.
For a 4'x4' area I would really go for the 1000w light.

You will find that a 600w light in a 4.5'x4.5' tent will get too hot if it is not cooled separately.

You can either have a separate fan/duct for the air cooled reflector plus your exhaust fan to exchange the air. Or you can use a exhaust fan from the air cooled hood and leave the other end open to draw air into the tent, thru the hood and then out. In either case the 270cfm fan maybe a little undersized for the job.

What about an air scrubber of some type? The odor will be substancial without it.

I just set up the same tent, w 600w HPS verticle bare bulb,
    >>>>>> I think 600 is fine in 4x4... 1000 is better but more heat too<<
4 plants, verticle scrog. I'm useing a 6"-264CFM centrifugal fan,
    I have 3 on hand and wish I had, 1, 8" 700+CFM fan.
Double and tripple the size of the fan you think you need and run it at half+ speed. If yer gonna use a filter, youll need more fan!
    Good luck.
