OK, I understand why people would hate nukes. The fact is, they exist. It's unrealistic to expect any power to freely give its nukes away, thereby weakening itself compared to its rivals. The reason the US continuallly is improving ALL military tech, including nukes, is to stay ahead of the competition. If war happens, you want your side to win. And I would argue that the nukes dropped on Japan would have saved more lives in the long run. This is considering the Japanese warrior code of no surrender, die with honor, etc... most Japanese would have fought to the death. Japans entire landscape would have been devastated. Both countries and many others would have had to endure a long and brutal war.

Oh, and CortezBuddha, you should do some research on how effective communists have been in the past. Not good. Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao. Communism makes it very easy for one crazy leader to fulfill his evil ambitions. How would you like to be TOLD where to work. Yeah, you take freedom for granted right now. Why don't you go move to China, and then try posting up on message boards there how you are supporting thier opposition. Might find yourself being tortured. Communism is good on paper, but on closer examination, it's pretty fucking stupid.

Just because he voted Communist doesn't mean he actually wants the communist party to win. At least, that's the way I would do it. It's more of a statement, saying that we're sick of the regular, mainstream bullshit that pretty much the smae whether you vote Dem or Rep. It's not like the communist party will ever win, but if they get a relatively substantial vote, the government gets the message that people want to be involved in politics, but the mainstream options all suck.
