Another big reason is that you represent many groups. Your age group, your gender, your occupation, your education level, etc. etc. Issues come up that affect one group or another. If any politician ever got wind that a particular group was mis-represented by the voting public because of apathy, can you imagine how that group's wants and needs would be totally ignored? It is your duty to be ready to hold politicians to the causes that are important to their home constituents and make them fear the consequences of mis or under representing you.

I could go on... but these are two big reasons to vote. I hope I have convinced you to exercise this right in the next election.

My grandfather fought and died in WWII to keep the Japanese out of Canada also, but that seems to have failed. (Tongue in cheek here, folks--at least half).

I have a political opinion on just about everything, and usually a fiery one at that, and I vote out of a nagging sense of duty, but I'm also very, very skeptical as to how much it really matters. There's never a candidate, here or if I was American, certainly not there, who reflects my own views to any large extent, and so I give my vote to the Green party to try to earn them an extra seat or two to keep us from raping the Arctic.

If you don't have any real political knowledge, you shouldn't vote. You're not doing your country any favours with your vote of ignorance.

I don't recall anything about that, but it seems irrelevant--you can nitpick all you want, but environmentalism is a very good thing when hypocrisy is kept out of it, and I'll trust almost the entire scientific community over Rush Limbaugh and his ilk anyday.

First of all, fuck Global warming, but I really love this argument (it is almost as stupid as a snowstorm being proof positive).. They were predicting over periods of hundreds of years , not 1, not 10, 100 that Oceans will rise.. And then some doof buys a beach front house and every mouth breather in the country is like LOOK PROOF POSITIVE IT IS FAKE!! How about you stick to science for disproving a scientific theory instead of something as idiotic as this? :twocents:

unless you subscribe to the theory that Al Gore is one of the living dead, then proceed at will.
