I agree with that. Clearly pharmaceutical companies and government researchers working in the interest of private industry are going to try to distill medical properties and then patent them for profit. It's part and parcel of our private health care system, though that is a different discussion to be sure. While I don't support this model in any shape or form, I do support ongoing research that could potentially/possibly lead to enhanced medical outcomes for those who needed it. That said, there is no way anyone should be interfering in our personal choices to medicate as we see fit. I know without a doubt that medicating helped tremendously with my PTSD. I might not be here without it. Unfortunately, I think we all need to be prepared to stand up for the cause at any given moment as you discovered during your military days.
