Plants go through growth-spurts just like kids. If you are using a 600w light, you won't want to let the plants get much taller in the growth phase, than they are now. Depending on the strain, the plants can double, tripple, quadruple in size once in flower. (Hybrids usually double or tripple) Effective light only extends about 4-5 feet with a 600 watter, so lower regions of the plant will start to fade as the light gets further away.
