2ft Plants Starting to Bud too Early,

I Took in a few babies for a friend who didn't have the room for them, when they came they seemed very stressed and were about 6-8inches tall. After re-potting into a good soil and large pots i placed them under a 600w light to veg them up and run the light for 18 hrs on.
The plants are now 3 weeks old and have stopped vegging and started budding!
Don't get me wrong they are nice looking plants, very healthy now just very small with LOADS of buds appearing!
Anyone know how to stop the budding process or postpone it so they can veg up a bit more first, the buds are only just starting so there might be time to do something??

I'm a noobie at this too, but I will attempt this from all the reading I have done. This forum is amazing at getting ones learning curve accelerated! It is probably too late to get them back to vegging. It could be done with the 18/6 lighting, but you run a huge risk of stressing the plants so bad that they go hermaphrodite on you and result in ruining the crop. If you have a bunch of girls there now showing buds, at 3 weeks old they are just a bit early but not too bad. I would let them keep going at this point. Put the lights on 12/12 and see what happens. They should just about double in size from the point they are at now in the flowering stage.

Thanks for that... all the reading i have done leads me to the same conclusion! I was just hoping that as this site had a lot of useful info there was someone out there with a secrete solution LOL (well we can but try!) anyway thats the way i will go , complete another week cycle at 18/6 and then switch to 12/12 with a high nitrate feed to keep the stress levels down and hope they double in size.

is it an auto-flower strain like lowrider? 18/6 will not usually stress to flower, dark periods are actually recovery times. they need sleep also. in clones they can tend to form up a little bit, which does wonders for your flowering time vs. seed, so as long as they arent forming actuall bud sites its ok. a pic would be helpful as well.

Hey MartynWales, the plant will almost triple in size the first few weeks of flowering. So your two foot plant should end up somewhere around 4-6 and the buds will begin to stretch as well later in the flowering phase.

Plants go through growth-spurts just like kids. If you are using a 600w light, you won't want to let the plants get much taller in the growth phase, than they are now. Depending on the strain, the plants can double, tripple, quadruple in size once in flower. (Hybrids usually double or tripple) Effective light only extends about 4-5 feet with a 600 watter, so lower regions of the plant will start to fade as the light gets further away.

You are right Rusty. My apologies. I have far too little experience to be trying to offer advice here. My enthusiasm for what I think I have learned so far got me carried away with trying to help. Lesson learned. Bad girl is now sitting in the corner listening to her elders as she should have been doing. Thank you for your push in the right direction. dont apologize to him. anytime you stress a plant it will express its opportunity for survival, via hermies. this is how 99.9% female seeds are created...stress. yes you can reveg ive done it, i just wont chance losing prize clones to hermies. that is of course if im not starting a breeding program.

Perhaps you should sit-back, learn the process, and know what you're talking about before stepping-in and showing us your lack of knowledge. :thumbsup:
