Need Help: Light inturruption during vegatation stage

    New to the forums. Greetings.

Current status: Purple Kush Clones 3 weeks 4 days into vegatative stage.

Bought a cheap power strip timer off amazon for $30 that supposedly can hold up to 1600 watts. I'm running three 600 watt lamps with a small hydro 8x4 set up. This past Monday morning, I realized the lights were off when i went to check on my plants. I immediately checked out the power strip and played with the timer to see what was wrong and to my surprise it seems the timer has burnt out or just stopped working. This power strip has two timers on each side so i tested the lights on the other side and it worked. Today when I came home from work the lights were off again! Both sides have now burnt out on the strip. I now have to use a back up power strip that can only run 1200 watts, but will pick up a much better power strip timer directly from the hydro store tomorrow.

NOW, as you can see the time cycle is all messed up. What should I do? should i just force it into the 12-12 flowering stage since the light schedule was interrupted twice anyways, or should i just let it ride out so that they can continue to grow to a good size. The clones are still fairly small in its 3rd week of vegatative growth and range from 12 to 9 inches long. I know that light interruption during the flowering stage can effect the sex, but I'm not sure if they are more susceptible during its vegative growth.

    any input would be appreciate.

You could go either way on this I think....How far from sending them into flower are you? If your close, go ahead and go to 12/12, but I think just two eff ups won't hermie them if you wanna get em bigger...just my two cents

Get a high qaulity power srtip and dont over load it. You said it could handle 1600 watts, then why did you hook up 1800 watts to it(600x3=1800)? It burned out because you overloaded it. Fires happen and there is more than one grower out there that burent his house and and got fucked by the insurance company because they were growing weed.

you dont have to flower the plants now, when in the vegetative state theyre not so sensitive to the photoperiod.

Just like you should never buy a combo TV or combo anything else, use a separate power strip and timer. and as was mentioned, make sure they are rated to carry the load you want.

so let me get this straight, you plugged 1800w into a 1600w strip and youre confused? before you start a fire always leave a cushion on your wattage, also check your amps. also not all power strips are surge protectors so make sure you have that and enough joules. as far as your cycle, proverb say first fix problem....booooooonnggg! vegetative growth should be fine so dont trip. may or may not hermie. clone and viola, reborn. too much wattage is your main problem, extension cords have limits also. read the labels on everything electrical so you dont burn yourself alive or worse.

In my experience, Its actually harder to screw them up than people then do think. I believe that only about 5% of hermies are due to stress, the rest are genetics. YMMV. Just go on as you would as if nothing happened and you should be fine.

Also, always keep your load at no more than 85% of what is rated, fires start that way.

    Good luck in your endeavor....
