what blunter said ---red pistils [hairs] do not indicate ripeness, they can change color for many different reasons .those lower buds will ripen LAST[if at all] not first.keep your eye on the calyx, when they swell turn a magnifying glass on the resin glands [trichs] and watch as they turn from clear to milky.when 90+% are milky your ready to harvest .some people will wait for amber colored trichs to harvest---with a sativa it could be a very long wait.with that said i should mention that i remove the lower branches and buds in order to focus flowering on the main cola.but i do it during the first 2-3 weeks.removing growth later into flowering may stress the plant and make it go hermi on you.
