Has anyone "personally" used one of those spin-pros? I am thinking about getting one but someone told me they knew someone who knew someone that used one and it wrecked there buds as in cutting off crytals etc. So, I was wanting to know if anyone has personally used one

Shit, I was gonna try and get out to help my buddy with harvest today,.... Maybe tomorrow, He should still be working it, and i need to head that way for other reasons anyway.
IIRC he uses one of those to help expedite harvest.
Having seen the way it works, yes I can see it knocking off trichomes, however, when your looking at trimming up POUNDS (plural) of buds I can see the attraction.
I'll try and take some pics with my phone if I get out there.

Haven't used a spin pro, but do have a trim reaper. As long as the buds are fresh, trichome loss is minimal.

I'd LOVE a hand crank trimmer! I'm small time, but with a bit of carpal tunnel. Two plants can make my hands hurt for a week. I wouldn't mind a few external broken trichomes, if it meant finishing a tiny harvest pain free!
However NO, I have not used one personally. (I just drooled over them on Youtube)

Didn't take any pics today, but suffice to say, it's not just broken trichomes, but whipped off bud tips, there was a HELL OF A LOT of shake/waste in the bottom of that thing, great for making hash, and OMFG! the amount of resin on the "Fingers" that are in the top!
The ones used today weren't the "Spin Pro" but a very similar product. Certainly expedited trimming the 20 or so plants I helped out with over the 4 hours I was there.
I will continue to hand trim my buds,... If I ever open a dispensary I'll look into a machine, IMHO for a small grower, or caregiver such as myself the waste and damage to the buds isn't worth the cost of the machine.

yea, I can't imagine whacking my buds like that. I am a big proponent of hang-whole-dry-then-trim these days. most intact, pretty buds ever, imo. then I carefully jar and cure..(but then I am never doing 20 plants)

Hell, I was helping out at a dispensary's grow! In 4 hours I helped with 20,... today was day 3 of harvesting, and it's going to go well into tomorrow,... there was still about 25-30 left! :rastasmoke:
Pic is just a corner of the grow I was helping to trim,... this was 4-5 weeks ago I think.

I got the trim pro rotor which is basically the motorized version of a spin pro
These machines knock off alot of the red hair & crystals
The apperance of the weed is totally different than hand trimming
Alot of the MMJ growers I know only use the machines for the small nugs from the bottoms and inside of the plants...the top colas are done by hand
