Found this circulating. This judge, if you want to call him that, needs to be sanctioned severely or removed from the bench.
Talking CALL FOR SUPPORT in BONNEY LAKE
ATTN: It is very important that we, as Medical Marijuana Patients, make a significant appearance in Bonney Lake on December 14, 2010 in support of one of our patients at the open City Council Meeting.
The public is given the opportunity to speak to the City Council regarding current affairs and/or issues within the Bonney Lake community. Each person will be given approximately 5 minutes to make their statement. Following is a brief regarding the issue that a medical marijuana patient is having with the Bonney Lake police department and courts, PLEASE READ:
One of our patients, who is not a resident of Bonney Lake, was pulled over and searched. He was found with nothing more that a pipe that he uses to medicate. He had no marijuana in his possession. He was arrested by the Bonney Lake Police and charged with "possession of paraphernalia".
During a jury trial last week in front of Judge Ronald Heslop, the jury found that [our patient] was, in fact, a qualified medical marijuana patient. That fact is not even in question since the jury already established that. Judge Heslop then neglected to inform the jury that, if they determined that he was a legal patient, that they could not convict him of criminal possession of paraphernalia. He failed to do so and [our patient] was convicted and was then immediately sentenced by Judge Heslop. The Judge sentenced him to serve ten days sitting in his courtroom. The sentence was to begin the following day and he was given no chance to appeal the verdict before beginning his sentence.
The next day [our patient] showed up to begin his sentence sitting in the court room. Part way through the day, a bailiff informed the Judge that [our patient] "smelled like marijuana," even though he had no marijuana with him, and that there is no law against "smelling like marijuana," especially for a legal medical marijuana patient. The Judge immediately jailed him. He spent the next three days in jail, without any medication for his chronic migraine headaches.
We ask that you please show your support for Medical Marijuana Patients and the Medical Marijuana Movement by attending the open City Council Meeting in Bonney Lake.
The meeting address and time is as follows:
Bonney Lake Courthouse
19306 Bonney Lake Blvd. East
Bonney Lake, WA 98391
December 14, 2010 @ 7 p.m.
We look forward to seeing all of you there!!!
Thanks in advance for your time and support in the matter!!!
