Oakland approves Marijuana farms, but the DEA STRONGLY OPPOSES

    From: Ganja Wise

Early this year the Oakland, California officials voted to permit 4 large industrial sized marijuana growing facilities. Those that voted against it were worried that this would put smaller operations out of business. The large amount of tax revenue that would come from these farms swayed the council into voting 5-2.

USA Today has more on this.

Recently federal officials have said that if this goes on they would purse criminal charges against the marijuana growers and the Oakland city officials. Unnamed administration staff told NORML:

ā??Oakland would be on the hook for violating state and federal law,ā?

If this plan somehow sees the light of day, Oakland would be charting in unprecedented territory. This would make Oakland the marijuana capital of the United States, if it isnā??t so already, and the amount of tax revenue it will receive may sway other city to do the same. Main reason my the DEA opposes the measure.

:greenthumb: this is from July so I'd be interested in knowing if this is really happening or not. There was an interesting discussion of this on the CNBC show MarijuanaLand or whatever it was called . If its being grown for medical use and not for profit then it should be within State law, which also put it into compliance with federal law. thats my legal opinion anyways. :rastasmoke:

could be interesting. Back when Jerry Brown was mayor, Oaksterdam was able to keep the bush people at bay, so I wouldn't count 'em out with this latest venture either. :twocents:

good luck. I sure would hate to see a warehouse bust at budding time, that would suck balls.
