    No arroma unless I grind

Greetings, first time to THIS particular forum room, but I have a question. Just bought myself a SSV and love it. I then went to my "archives" to get some of my delicious Banana Kush I grew last year. Upon opening every jar, I noticed I have very little smell. I cured and dried as normal and once totally dry, I put them in mason jars and sealed them tight, put them in a dark, cool place. Been in there now for a year.
If I grind it, the smell kinda comes back, but not like it was fresh. Smokes fine, tastes great... just no "bouquet". Is this normal or have I ruined my stash somehow.... ps, no mold, no mold smell... very very very dry.
    Any feedback, thanks
PSS... my apologies if this is the wrong forum for this, please redirect me if necessary.

    Hello GodofGraphics,

What you expeienced with the loss of aroma is not unusual.
As you said, it was cured properly and still retained it's other best properties, and like you said some aroma upon grinding.

To retain more "bouquet" next time, you could try vacum sealing the mason jar. Using one of those vacum sealing deals (light seal-a-meal) they make adaptors to seal wide mouth mason jars. Without the air in the jar, the fresh aroma will stay much longer.

I see no problem with posting this here, you mentioned you just got an SSV vaporizer which could put your question here.

    BTW it's a fine vape, it's what I use.

    Oldmac,
Thanks for the kind words and advice. It's dissapointing when they smell so wonderful during the curing phase then smell like nothing. I had a bout with yellow mold one time... lost 2 ounces. Perhaps I'm over-drying? Anyway, it still kicks hard and rids smooth so the tric's must still be workin'.
Thanks again Oldmac, very nice chattin.
Oh, and yes, the SSV.... I ended up with this vap as a gift. Wow, have my lungs been thanking me... and what a nice change in the high. I still smoke a regular bowl now and then, but the vap is the way to go. My lungs feel much better.
Good vibes to you my friend
