Im pretty sure your going to have to be very diligent the first days of watering and adjust how much ur pumps turn on for...I think the most common thing in ebb is root rot by overwatering(or at least was for me at first)...I did a 2 inch rockwool hydroton mix...if i were to go back to this again i would go with just a big giant rockwool cube only....basically let ur pump turn on and completely fill the tray(time how much the pump needs to be on)...then every 10 minutes check your medium to see how dry/wet it is, (the thing w/ rockwool and hyrdoton is they dont hold much water so you have to water 5-6x a day) its real easy to check if u have a giant rockwool cube, but for hyrdoton im not really sure how you would determine that...you basically want your medium to "almost be dry"...like close to completely dry...BUT...not lol...you have to find that perfect number(every 45 minutes, every 30 or whatever it is)...once you know that time set it to a continuous pace & the last watering cycle should be in the last hour of lights on...

    I think that's about right

RW doesn't really hold water?? RW is like a friggin sponge and holds water a long time. That being said when I ran a traditional ebb&flo I would flood about 4-5 times a day for 15 mins a shot. Now I'm running Ebb&Gro system and flooding 5 times daily for 15 mins with 4 of the 5 floods during "daylight" hours.

well I just meant they dont hold water well compared to soil is all...thats why i would prefer RW if i ever went back, I know it holds water better then hydroton....
