DENVERâ??State Sen. Chris Romer plans to join the race for Denver mayor.
The Denver Democrat says he'll announce his candidacy Tuesday. He previously filed paperwork with the city clerk to explore running.
Others who've announced their candidacies are council members Doug Linkhart and Michael Hancock, city employee Danny Lopez and James Mejia, executive director of the Denver Preschool Program.
Mayor John Hickenlooper was elected governor Nov. 2. He plans to stay on the job until his Jan. 11 inauguration to avoid a special election. Deputy Mayor Bill Vidal will become acting mayor until the regular election in May.

Everything is relative. Romer is better than a Republican. Besides, Romer must be doing something right since you Denver folks seem to keep electing him. He seems an unexciting candidate to me.

I most certainly believe even the Republican candidate will be better for Colorado than Romer. He is only interested in his own career + fame.

MANY Colorado Republicans last session did less damage than Romer!

I am an independent voter, voted for no Republicans in the last election (straight D and Libertarian), though I have in the past for good candidates. Gotta look at each one for what they are, and Romer is just plain old bad.

The Republican candidate is Michael Hancock, of the City Council. He does not appear to be a friend of MMJ, and google indicates he has been supportive of many initiatives the Denver folks on this board are bitching about, from moratoriums to bans. I'll leave it for the Denver peeps to tell you more about him. I have no doubt that Releaf and others know more about him than I, having tangled with him re: regulations and city ordinances.
