best light cycles for different stages?
I want to know what the optimum light cycles are for the different stages of life in a plant's life.
I know 12/12 for when you want it to flower, but what about seedlings, small plant, almost full size etc.?KIMJONGIL Reviewed by KIMJONGIL on . best light cycles for different stages? What Dutchy said x2....But if I may add a little more kind sirs!...for seedlings I like a gentle light, and I think they do too....too much light on a baby will make it work too hard (read stress!) for the existing root system, so gentle lighting for a couple weeks on a seedling or clone to let it get some roots going. 24/0 gentle light is fine on youngsters tho...

thanks guys. I read somewhere that plants focus on growing roots when it's dark, so I would guess seedlings need at least a little time in the dark, no?

There is an ongoing debate on this subject. Personally, I use 24/0 light, but some feel the plant needs some dark time....it's kinda like the trim/don't trim debate. My clones always seem to root in a couple weeks regardless, so I stick with the 24/0. As soon as I start to see new growth above the soil, I check the roots and transplant and start giving them some HO lighting. There's absolutely nothing wrong with some dark time imho, either, tho. I guess it's just personal preference.
