    Do waterproof backpacks hide weed?

I ride a scooter and am looking for more secure ways to transport weed home back from a pickup. I have an underseat compartment where I store my vehicle registration, and while the compartment itself is airtight, it would be risky to open it up while a cop was standing nearby. So I'm thinking of a backpack, since luggage is constitutionally protected from warrantless searches.

I have an Overboard 100% waterproof backpack (with a "high frequency welded construction") and so I'm guessing it might be airtight enough for even the strongest of weed odors. I'm out of weed right now and the last weed wasn't very strong, so I can't conduct an experiment at the moment. Do any of you guys know if I'm right or wrong?

No idea, I can smell the herb in my bag all the time, the waterproof aspect might help you though. If the temperature begins to rise in your bag either from the weather, body heat or maybe a bike motor, the aroma becomes more apparent if not airtight. Call myth busters?

Bags aren't constitutionally protected from warrantless searches everywhere, like places terrorists might actually want to bomb Screw you NYPD for making my herb get compacted on my person!

Use Tupperware, a jar or some similar airtight container inside of the backpack.

    That'd be a fun episode!

That's a good idea. After I made the post it occurred to me that there's a freshly empty Metamucil bottle laying around, which is kinda funny if you think about it. "Oh look, I'm just constipated."

The police have right of search now...remember those so-called anti-terrorist laws everybody liked the idea of so much...

If they stop you, they will search you - maybe internally too.

The only way is to tie a peice of string around the bag, swallow it and tie the string around one of your teeth. If you get stopped - no worries - you just tell em you just ate spagetti. If they strap on the gloves - no worries - they'll have to dig pretty deep to grab that bag lol.

Don't toke and drive kids...it's irresistable.

    I mean, irresponsible

The backpack alone will not hide the smell. The waterproof aspect when it comes to the zippers are just little flaps OVER the zip so water doesnt get to it. The smell on the other hand is free to pass through the zipper.

Your best bet is to get a jar that is airtight. Even then it wont protect you from someone searching your bag. Believe me they will open your metamucil jar quickly.

You definitely do not want to swallow that shit with a string... could do harm to your body which isnt worth it. Just grow your own!

The US Supreme Court ruled in Arkansas vs. Sanders the vehicle exception of the fourth amendment does not apply to luggage, because there is no 'exigency.' While the police can search your vehicle if they see something in plain view or if they smell an odor which they have been trained to recognize as marijuana, police must obtain a search warrant to search your luggage extracted from your vehicle (even if they smell marijuana leaking from the luggage). The search of your vehicle is warrantless because a vehicle can be driven off the scene before a search warrant is granted, but the court ruled that luggage doesn't have the threat of walking away. No laws can reverse the ruling. The only question would be if a backpack on a motorcyclist or scooterist counts as luggage.

The Tupperware suggestion sounds about the best idea to me, never thought of that, and it comes in all shapes and sizes, so it would be easy to find a piece that wouldn't appear too bulky in your backpack. Personally I just throw a bottle of cologne in my bag before the leaving d crib when I know I am going to be on the subway and/or bus with a package.

Got mi thinking bout going to the Tupperware route though, I'm usually on edge a bit when I'm out, not so much about the possible possession and intent charges but got warrants on top of that Should get some of that infomercial shit.. "the sound means it is airtight!"
