    need help with seedling problem

I have grown outdoors for 38 seasons this is my first indoor- growing medium is 4 cubic feet pro-mix ph balanced at 6.5- added 15 pounds worm castings- with 1/2 bag of Happy Frog and 20% perlite- this mixture highly recommended by my equipment supplier- growing under a 1k MH at this time, temps are 76-to 80- 24 inches from canopy and 68 to 65 for night temp- plenty of circulation- RH between 57 and 20 - drops pretty low when heater comes on, added a humidifier this morning- Problem is seedling planted 9 days ago all growing very well- second set of leaves filling out- look good except there is an uneven color on some , very mottled - light to dark areas with soome of the leaves dropping- almost curling down but more of a droop- could this be root burn - been suggested my mixture is too hot for seedlings, if so how do I remedy this problem- obviously plan on transplanting to same medium, wish I had photos- I have Googled images and have not seen anything similar- could use all you experienced growers with this-

It could be that your mix is too hot for seedlings. Not sure about that.. I was thinking more on the lines of necrossis. With the description you gave it led me to that. It's where you have over or under watered. Use plain ph'd water and they should come around.

I'm having the same problem myself at the moment.
Over-watering can cause these symptoms, but in my case I know that wasn't true. So I checked my water ph and found it to be a bit high. I got my run offs down to 6.8 and am waiting patiently to see if they improve.

sounds like to much water, let the soil dry out before watering again. buy digging with one finger about a inch in the soil check to see when it is dry like that. the surface might be dry but under that might be very wet.

I am pretty sure it isn't overwatering. I have a moisture meter, a nice one. Before purchasing the medium got fairly dry. I' will check my run-off. If it is a hot dirt situtation - how would I resolve that issue- if it is flushing - how much and would'nt that change the soils PH being it is a PH adjusted product?

flushing doesn't change Ph if it is phed as well, but if your over watering them a flush is not to good letting them dry is good

You can use the simple " Pick up The Pot" trick.. If it's heavy no need to water. Sometimes dry is a great thang!

    GA,
I have been using this method before meter purchase- also have plants in a clear 16 oz cup inside a 18 oz colored cup-I can visualy see dirt as well, this is why I feel an over water problem is not what may be going on

As I previously posted I didnt think my problem (which is similar to yours) was overwatering either, even tho overwatering can cause the same symptoms.
I adjusted my H2o ph, & retransplanted to bigger pots and now they are doing much better. The new growth is perfect. (of course the old growth still looks shitty, but atleast now they are headed in the right direction.)
Sometimes after an adjustment ya just gotta wait a bit.

clear pots are a no no, you need pots that allow no light in their,, light trims roots or kills roots how ever you want to say it.
