Clones, seeds, mothers, cross breeding.

Well, Since I found out in my first indoor grow, that you can not depend on a co-op to provide quality genetics on their clones....I decited to take some steps to improve the quality of the mothers I intend to keep for the future. Here is what I have learned....I know....I read about it....but until you actually grow indoors....you do not realize how important it really is.

1) The Afgoo clones I purchased were good, buds are huge..but not dense. I would grow this strain again...but would need better genetics.

2) The Green Crack clones I purchased were not good genetics...I would not buy clones again from this co-op....the good news is I visited a good friends outdoor grow and his Green Tye he calls it.....is excellent genetics...very hearty plants...huge caylex's....excellent bud sizes...and sticky as heck....I was able to take cuttings and have an excellent mother right now.....looking forward to growing this strain in bunches.

3) Purple Berry Kush...."Purple Kush X DJ short Blue Berry" New hybred...I was able to get 14 clones from 4 different phenos....only two of the phenos were any good in my opinion....so I had 4 real good yielding plants 6 to 10 oz each all tight, sticky, very large buds...of those I am re-vegging two of them right now in my veg room....I want to keep them as mothers....as I believe they are excellent.

4) Kypronite OG kush, Grape Romulan, Purple Kush....all were cuttings I took from excellent outdoor plants at a friends grow....There were many plants to choose from....and I visited this grow many times....I took cuttings form the best plants. All are in the flower stage right now...the Kypronite....are my favorite right now...the smell of the plants is amazing...and the flowers are very happy.

5) Purple Dragon, NY diesel, where purchased from a breeder...they are flowering right now....jury is still out....plants are looking excellent....lets just see what the buds are at harvest.

6) Grand Daddy Purple Purchased these clones from a fly-by-the-night "stoner" who was only interested in the money....the clones were crap...total crap....purchased 18....only 9 made it....of those I gave away 6 to a friend for his green house grow...I have completed harvest on 1 and it was excellent medicine...and a good yielder...the other two are flowering right now.....I would really like to grow this strain again...but I need better genetics.....really....I would like to see an excellent mother and take my own cuttings....or perhaps find some realiable seeds.

7) My reason for this post....I know.....Get to the point.....I just find this stuff...really interesting.....I have contacted a breeder in Humboldt...he has crossed a "train wreck" with "purple erkle"......here is what he is saying.

"These seeds were intentially produced, a premium male was selected, and the best pheno females were selected for breeding. Their is a variety of phenos possible. From Trainwreck to Purple Erkle. They are easy to tell the phenos apart in most cases, the trainwreck will grow taller faster and the erkle is more of slower growth. But their has been a few cases were it was a perfect mix and the erkle was growing fast with BIG PURPLE buds, growing everywhere, these seeds are an excellent choice, to find that mother plant that you have been searching for"

I was able to get 30 seeds for a good price....I am searching for that amazing mother.....

Any thoughts.....or am I just crazy??????

not sure what all that means but this is my first post and it was a very interesting weed... that trainwreck/ purple sounds phenominal, please update with pictures

Interesting read...you have some interesting strains to work with and quite a variety too! I just rec'd 15 clones from a growbuddy of what he called "Purple Trainwreck" yesterday, er, Sunday...(dam, what day is it?) all look good and the mother we took them from could've yielded over a 1000 clones...6' tall and very robust and bushy, so I took the best cuttings I could...I'm not sure if this is the same as what you have, but I will keep you updated...we smoked a little oven dried quicktest and I took three little bong rips and fell over on the couch...can't wait to see what it will do fully mature and cured! Let you know more in a couple weeks when his is ready! Keep us informed on what ya got!

I am crazy....Growing is addicting. Purple Trainwreck huh? Well please take some pictures of the mother and post. I would love to see a picture of the medicine....since there are 4 possible phenos....I would like to see which one that is.

I can try to get you a pic...it's about an hour and half drive for me, and I won't be back down there until maybe Fri. or Sat.
