    Correct pH for soil...

yeah I just saw it now I didn't know you mixed your own soil which is good lots should do this, but you need to add dolomite lime to get Ph soil higher, tree bark is to lower your Ph you need to raise it. when mixing your own soil most just us worm castings perlite and dolomite lime, you left the dolomite out so now the Ph is not set correctly I think if you add some dolomite to the surface you should be OK, but do the Ph test and make sure. dolomite is avalable at any hydro stor or nursary sometimes even wallmart

The drop kit can be very misleading when testing runoff. Especially if the runoff is discolored.

PH pens are only 15-20 bucks.

15-20 really here for a good one it is about 40 minimum and then you have to get calibration solution and cleaner and keeper solution. to get a complete tds ec and ph tester here it is close to 400 when all is gotten.

    Correct pH for soil...

thats a good deal, but Milwaukee is not one I am familiar with, I will only trust oak ton, Hanna, and blulab, with blulab and hanna being the ones i know even when they break I have a chance of getting a new one or a replacement. but that is a good deal, add a tds in their and then about 50-60 bucks in solution and;... well now I see it is just about 20, bucks cheaper but still not too bad. I really like the all in one monitors, one you don't need as much solution waste and 2 it is much easier to get 3 readings at one time then 3 separate readings, but I like the 20 dollar option too.

pH can range from 5.5 to 7.0 typically without much trouble. Roots will probably be much better but I don't know if it's your pH there SLG, or something else as 7.1 doesn't sound terrible. Got any other circumstance?
