NO! Don't cover the tops of the pots! The lack of light will kill the algae but then that warm, damp, dark enviornment will grow mildew.

Knowing what I know about coco, which isn't much, I'd flush out the nutes with plain water (no nutes) thats been adjusted to a 6 pH then let it dry out completely before the next watering, which prob wont be long cause that coco should dry quickly.

Letting it dry will start a wet/dry cycle and get the roots to search for water and make a large root system, plus letting it dry out on top will kill off any algae thats there.
i second this statement. coco is ph nuetral so your ph is lower than it needs to be. rockwool shifts more than coco from what i understand. water less and fix your ph. algae likes warmth, wetness, and light take out one or two elements and no more algae.
