Yeah they do deteriorate and so do other types of bulbs.

"CFLs produce less light later in their lives than when they are new. The light output decay is exponential, with the fastest losses being soon after the lamp is first used. By the end of their lives, CFLs can be expected to produce 70â??80% of their original light output" (taken from wikipedia).

I plan to use mine for at least half of their 10,000 hour life. But I'm a tight ass when it comes to money.

Thrips are little bugs that suck the sap of plants, they were pretty easy to get rid of tbh. The strain was of unknown origin. The genetic line is dead now, so even if I wanted to, I can't grow that strain again.

My logic behind the 8 plants is to have 4 nice strains then 4 cheap plants to make give me some quanitity...think its going to back fire this time round but whats your opinion ? maybe 2 pineapple 2 violator or just 4 of all the same ?
I think it is going to be down to personal choice, but growing a mix of high yielding and high potency plants seems like a good idea to me. Growing in pots means you can easily negate problems like different heights or the different nutrient needs, so mixing the varieties isn't going to give you any major problems. I want to be able to grow enough so that I don't have to buy weed anymore. Because I have limited space and lighting that means high yielders for me. I guess it also depends on how much you smoke.

I do intend to try "fancier" strains in the future because I really like fruity weed. I'm thinking a good old fashioned Grapefruit or a Strawberry cough (I have tried lemon haze - smells nice but I didn't like the taste). I am happy with the hit I get from so called "B" strains (they were A strains not that many years ago).
