    Super Soil in RI

    Hello fellow Rhodies,

I'm a new patient, eagerly awaiting his card. In the mean time, I have turned my wonkish nature toward a new hobby.

Thank you all for being exceedingly helpful in getting to know a new community.

My question is whether anyone here who grows organic has used this "Super Soil" recipe. My thumbs are flesh colored, though it would be nice if they turn a more emerald hue. In reading the countless (they go on and on and on) threads, this guy seems to know his stuff.

I'm contemplating whipping up a batch of this stuff, and was curious if anyone has treaded this path before me. If so, any pointers? Especially on compiling the ingredients.

    2010 Revised Super Soil Recipe

i have used variations of subcools super soil mix before...my advice is to mix large batches and to wait at least 2 weeks before using any made mix. good luck!

    Oldhead,

Your words are wise. I wasn't going to get fancy at all with the recipe. To the letter, and let sit for at least 30 days. The idea of getting a full batch of nutes for the year in one go, that gets better as it gets older, definitely perked my interest.

Do you mind me asking the results of your variations? I'm not going to lie, this is my first shot at this--so I'm going with the experience of those who walked the path before me.

The real question I have is how to "cook" it for 30 days with winter coming up. Back to the forums. Oh well...that's why Google owns us.

Talk to the Hghflyr and give me a shout, I am a much faster talker then typer! I can answer whatever questions you may have the best I can. One other thing I have discovered is that once the supersoil is mixed you lose the option of delivering your nutirients variably, such as some strains liking heavier feedings then others. Just a thought, after much thought and seeking the advice of a profesional..( You know who you are! Props to you!) I have considered and decided to switch to pro mix or a nuetral soilless medium that I can control more.

    Oldhead,

Thanks for the response. Since I am a total newb, Subcool's rap caught me. I'm looking for a nice intro to the field, so to speak. Once I get some notches on my belt, I may end up going the route of more control.

I was able to hit up a local shop today and get most of the ingredients. A few key items will be delivered soon, I hope, and then super soil away!

This seems like a wonderfully laid back and informative place to be. Highflyer really helped me out, and I'm glad to have good people helping a man get off the ground. Something about bootstraps... imp:

Within the next few weeks we can get this show on the road. I'll try and give some feedback with the supersoil, so we can see how this works for a beginner. The guy at the shop says he knows a guy in Providence who makes this mix, but tailors it to his own specifications. Sounds like my kind of guy, but I'm going to stick with the directions for the first batch.

    Peace and Unity,

    CD

    So, Super Soil is cooking.

For my first go-round, I have stuck with the basic recipe. I used FF Light Warrior and Steamed Bone Meal where appropriate. I love the smell of Roots...mmmmm.

Three huge trash barrels full should get me through the year. Very exciting, not to mention using some Sucanat when necessary during flower. By the time they are done cooking, seedlings will be done with the basic roots and ready for the good stuff.

See ya on the other side.
