Some Dutch border towns such as Maastricht and Terneuzen have already restricted the sale of marijuana to foreigners to limit crime and disturbances such as traffic jams.

every time ... some peaceful herb loving tourists just want to enjoy a little freedom and then some stoners have to show up and f it up for everyone. :jointsmile:

thats does suck. hopefully its mostly border towns to stop cross border traffic and not aimed at peaceful North Americans who just want to smoke out with our brothers and sisters. going to Amsterdam is long standing tradition here. :smokin:

This measure would apply to all cafe owners in the Netherlands. It is aimed at Amsterdam. I have been transiting Schiphol at least 5 times a year for the past decade. I include at least a 5 hour layover whenever possible so that I can train into the city for some RnR. It is truly a unique culture. I wonder what it would do to the tourist industry...

wow, that would be a shame, not that I ever have any intention of visiting, but they are a model for the rest of the world atleast in terms of Cannabis law, and shouldn't take steps backwards. Not to mention, it will kick their tourism industry in the balls... and who doesn't get wasted and cause some type of disturbance on vacation anyways?

I hate to say this, but I hear where they're coming from.

The coffee shops like the ones they have in Amsterdam and a few other places in North Holland aren't at all like the ones they have in the other, smaller towns.

The Nederland Peoples are usually quite quiet and conservative, almost reserved, in comparrision to their neighbors. Simply put: they don't want their towns used a starting point for illegal drug trade.

It is very easy to move to de Nederlands (Ik lerne het Sp...i forget the word for language, but I am trying to learn it) especially from other EU countries, and they actually encourage you to vote when you get there.

I'm thinking of moving there and if I can find work I will.

The Netherlands (De Nederlands, in Holland Dutch [I think]) are fascinating. Each provience has it's own personality, but they don't really like it when they try to push each other around. I don't really claim to be an expert, but the most likely situation will be that each provence will enact its own laws, meaning North Holland will most likely still welcome North Americans.
