Yes, keep only the best-lit parts of the plant around. Any undergrowth that will get nothing significant should be removed.

The branches at the very bottom of the plant that don't get much of the light they need, aren't doing much, a friend said I should clip some of them off, that way the part of the plant that's doing well would have that much more of the "energy" that is being givin by both the lights and nutes!
