PLEASE SIGN AND SEND TO THE DOH BEFORE DEC 1st

The NM Department of Health medical cannabis program is currently accepting feedback until Dec 1st on changes the patients would like to see in the program:stoned:, these are some changes I would like to see and I think have a realistic chance of being approved.

If you have something you would like to add post it up in here to be included in this feedback, or include it in your letter to the DOH privately.

Print out a copy, sign it(include your medical mj id number) and mail to the DOH yourself, either through email, or good ol snail mail.

I (insert name) am a patient of the New Mexico Medical Cannabis Program(id number), as the Department is currently accepting feedback, I would like to see the following changes made.

Change the plant definition so "Mature" means a female in flower, also increase the number of mature female plants allowble by the patient to six(6).

Patients should be allowed up to twenty-four (24) ounces so that seasonal outdoor patient growers can harvest and keep enough medicine for a year, as cannabis only flowers one time in late fall when grow outside.

Patients who harvest and excess cannabis should be able to give away their excess at no cost to other patients, or they should turn over there excess cannabis to the already approved medical providers licensed by the state. If the product is free from all contaminates, the producer can give the cannabis away at no charge to indigent patients.

it's just not realistic in my opinion.. Outdoor gardens have been a source of trouble since local police are typically not notified by patients and certainly not by the DOH that legal cultivation is going on. Larger gardens become more obvious and attractive targets

Since the current regulation pretty much examines the need for supply exemptions based on need, methinks you're wasting effort on this one.

I'd rather see efforts to extend the certification periods for certain nerve related conditions extended to two years. It seems to be a waste of time and money to have an MS patient re-certify every year.

That disease doesn't seem to curer itself, so once you get diagnosed, why go thru the trouble and expense of having it checked yearly. We don't make drivers take eye tests every year for a license now do we?

Form letters, from my experience do not get the weight they deserve in the influence of decisions.

One of the reasons dispensaries are getting approved in remote areas like cantron county is so patients in those areas don't have to make such a long journey to buy a new supply. If you look at the number of patients data, you see that there were less then two dozen in that area by last count, while providers in santafe for example have more patients then they can serve.

Clear to me that the DOH doesn't run on squeaky wheel politics, it appears to be based on compassion, so if you grow outdoors, and can demonstrate a need to maintain a 24 oz supply, then by all means apply for a variance, but to try to globally change the rule isn't going to work, again, my opinion.

patient4200 It might not get accepted but If we as patients do not make any recommendations Then we can't be crying that nothing is being done to change things for the better for us I think what MV is wanting is for patients to send in something to the DOH on what YOU want changed.Just give them some input for them to consider.

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if all you have to say is "don't bother trying", PLEASE stay out of this thread!
If 300 people send this letter out, maybe things won't change, but its more likely to make a change than not doing anything!!!

These are just changes I would like to see happen, and I from talking with other patients, I feel most would agree this would be an improvement to the program.
If you have changes you would like to see happen as alfonso said, either include them privatley(either with or without my ideas), or rewrite the letter in a way you think would be better and post it up here.

Now in my opinion, I would rather be able to automatically have 24 ounce limitv and get checked out once a year, as opposed to 6 ounce limit, but only need a checkup every two years.

I think its important that Anyone who is a seasonal grower needs an automatic exemption for a larger harvest as they only get one growing season a year.
Nerve conditions should not have to be reviewed every year, but neither should aids, and chrons disease, etc... That would be a good change.

I think giving feedback may not get things changed, but I must say not giving any feedback things are MUCH less likely to change for the better for us patients.

If not a single person ever says anything good or bad, the program will continue in the same direction it has been going, except for politicians, or others who will actually make their voices heard and work for changes.

    Alfonso yes,
If anyone who reads this would like to see these changes happen then yes send off a copy of my prefabricated letter. It def won't hurt, and will only take a couple mins as its already all typed out for you.
If you want to add something privately to my letter when you sent it off, great

Now if you think my recommendations are bad, then send off your own letter.
Either way the DOH is asking for feedback, and I think it would be foolish not to take the oppurtunty to voice your opinion when given the chance. Even if nothing is changed from it.

Now if you are two lazy or negative to take 2 minutes to send feedback cause you think it won't hel[, Cool, everyone is entitled to their opinion:thumbsup:, but why people try and discourage others, I have no idea.:rastasmoke:

We have AZ that is planning on having at the most 10 times the amount of producers and obviously a large number of patients. A supply limit of ~5oz per month. And thats right off the bat. So I don't think 24 ounces is out of the ballpark at all. Outdoors in a field might be one thing, outdoors in a greenhouse under adequate security is doable and approvable.

Maybe you can send a modified version(including any points you may also like to add) of what I posted out to all your patients, so they can also send this in.

The more patients who participate the more likely a change will occur , imagine if 1/2 or even a 1/4 of patients signed something like this, then people who are suffering could get meds and the producers would have less of a burden.
