my one biggest plant is merkin, on its 3rd node and on the first node, the tips of the leaves are starting to go brown and point up =/ i would post pics but i havent posted 50 times yet

What type of hydro set-up are you running? not

Your Equipment:
A) Type and wattage of lights. (MH, HPS, CFL's, tube fluorescents, LED's)=http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=51907 for 3 plants
B) Distance from tops? about 6-8 inches
C) Reflector type? (cool tube set-up, bat wing, enclosed reflector, bare bulb...) look at the link above
D) What are the bulb wattages, kelvin ratings, and schedule? 6400k for both tubes and 18/6
E) Is there a consistent fresh air supply? passive intake active exhaust
F) Do you have an exhaust fan and a circulation fan? working on the circulation fan
G) Size of reservoir? if that means the pot than a solo cup for now
H) What medium if applicable. FFOF

Your nutrients and water:
I) If using rockwoll for clones or seedlings, did you rinse the cubes well, with properly ph'd water? not
J) Source of water. (tap or filtered) What's it's ph? tap, let sit out for over 24 hours. not ph'd
K) Specific brand and N-P-K ratio for each bottle. List dosages (quantity per gallon) and current feeding schedule. FF trio pack thing, have only given one feeding so far and it was tiny
L) What is the ec/ppm of your unadjusted tap (or filtered) water? no idea, need a tester
M) What is the ec/ppm of your nutrient solution? no idea, need a tester
N) What is the temperature of your nutrient solution? (reservoir high and low temps) room temp
O) Does your ec/ppm show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check?
P) Does the ph fluctuate?
Q) Do you foliar feed? If so, with what, how often, and at what time do you
spray? (Just after lights come on, just before they go out...) dont
R) How often do you replace reservoir water/nutes? What does it look like before changes? (clear, foamy, green, brown...)

Your growroom:
S) What size of closet, room or hut? 3 x 3 x 8ft high
T) What are the temps and humidity levels while lights are on? ...With lights off? temp=mid 70's w/ mid 30's humidity w/ lights on. lights off=high 50's temp w/ low 30's humidity
U) Have you seen signs of insects in the growroom? just a little gnat lookin thing nd i killed it
V) Are the roots long and white, or brown and slimy? no idea

Your strain:
W) What strain are you growing? (Indica dominate or Sativa dom?) easy rider, offa amsterdamseeds or whatever that site is
X) From seeds or clones? seeds
Y) Is this an autoflower strain? no

The first set of leaves die off. This is normal.

(Browning on the very tips can indicate overfeeding. But if it is the 1st set of leaves it is probably not overfeeding).

well its not the little tiny roundish leaves, its the first true set of leaves and both are slowly browning, and curling up. this is normal?

How soon after the feeding did the leaves start to brown-up? And no...it's not normal for this to happen.

Seedlings in soil shouldn't get any addition of nutrients till between the 3rd and fifth set of true leaves. (approx) Also, how long ago did you add the nutrients?

Are you in coco or soil...? If in a potting soil, next time, you might want to use the proper troubleshooting form. The one you filled-out is for hydro. The soil form is just above it in the same troubleshooting form thread.

I have been dreading this day (The day that my opinion differs from Rusty Trichomes). RT has infinitely more experience than me, so his opinion carries much more weight. But I have found that out of the 14 seeds I have started, every plant has had the 1st set of leaves die off once it has grown a few more sets of leaves. None of the plants have appeared to suffer any ill effects at all.

Anyway... like I said earlier, RT's opinion is worth a lot more than mine, so if you are going to take anyones advice it should be his.

Does it happen...? Sure.
It it something to panic about...? Not really, but it isn't optimal.
Is it avoidable...? Sure.

Once you get accustomed to a strain, nutrients and watering schedules...the rest is a breeze. The young leaves are the plant's initial food source as the roots develop. If you make the plant use those nutrients up, the leaves wither and die. But if you give too many nutrients or additives, the leaves will burn.

If the plant is being given all it needs without you going overboard with the nutrients, the cotyledons and first set of serrated leaves should remain as healthy as the rest of the plant.

i actually noticed it a little before the feeding, and it just got worse with it and now i see some brown on a leaf right above the already browning ones. i dont over water, possibly under water as ive read the biggest mistake is loving ur plant too much. so i watered yesterday w/ no nutes and i have to wait till my light comes on to look at my children lol so ill let u guys know how they look. if u want il take pics of my setup and everything for constructive criticism

Nothing good happens overnight. Give it a couple of days and watch the new growth.
Do not keep the soil saturated. Cannabis prefers a wet-dry cycle, but not to the extremes. (not bone dry, and not over-saturated)
