I have a really stupid question

I purchased a 150w HPS light system last year and just noticed on the light it says it's a 250w system. Is this normal? Can I use a 250w bulb if it says it's 250w system?

Will do. The reason I'm asking is because they sent the regular 150w bulb with the 250w ballast and I want to purchase (when I have the money) a 250w bulb. I didn't know if it would blow the bulb or ruin the ballast or WHATEVER. Electricity scares the crap out of me anyway. Comes from having an Electrician for a father that has a penchant for practical jokes.

more than likely no they cant be used, but I am not to sure on this, cause why would they send a 150W bulb with the 250W ballast. But usually the wattage on the ballast needs that same wattage for a bulb.

I would go by the label on the ballast itself. Meaning, sometimes the case/housing can hold different sized ballasts/bulbs. it's only what's on the ballast that counts. You may have to open the housing to know for sure.

And I agree, DemingNonProfet is rather natsty and most unhelpful.

I'm not an electrician or master grower by ANY means, but I think I have to agree with Ocotillo. If opening it won't void the warrantee, you should do it. I can see 1 of 3 things leading up to this:

1) A mislabeled ballast.(Only a sticker right?)
2) As was said earlier, maybe it only runs 150w. Highly unlikely if it is labeled 250w.
3) Someone shipped you the wrong light and you got 100w for free.

Yes Deming was banned,
I was going to leave as well, but got a ton of emails asking me to stay, I was surprised, even one of the site moderators hit me up and said he wished I would stay too. :stoned:

as for your question.
If the ballast is labeled 250w, AND the bulb is also labeled 250w. Then you are in the clear. If one is 150w and the other 250, then there is a problem.

Sorry for getting into it last night with you. In all honestly we were just having a adult conversation, and Deming starts with the name calling, and everything snowballed after that.
I was just voicing my opinion. As you were as well, hopefully we can have intelligent conversations in the future without the name calling, regardless if you are in the "The Program Is Doomed" or "Lets do something group". Everytime Deming pops in a thread it goes south quicker than a flock of geese in the winter.

2) Before that, in a different state forum, I had an individual passing information (e-mail addy) asking for a line on medical products.....9 damn days later he's posting on how he can MAKE DELIVERIES!

There is a GOOD reason why we don't want people to post that information here. YOU don't need johnny law at your door because your doing business with somebody like I described and WE don't need the shit to splatter back in here when it does. Hope ya all understand and if not....oh well, that's your future problem.
