Oh-No now I'm a little worried I bought my seeds (blackberry) through visc seeds and they came in a little slotted plastic see through case (of sorts) each strain (seeds) in different slots, then they were sealed in with cu-tips ends and then cut off at the tip?

Who knows? we'll see what happens! so far the 2 seeds I've planted have turned up female, but are they true blackberry's? we'll see! thanks all for your comments.:thumbsup:

And to the rest of ya's, thank you for the kind words. We're trying to do things right.

Since the beginning, we've been growing out large blocks of plants from seed and whittling down the numbers to the top 5-10% of what comes up. This takes time and money and patience. It is the only way to weed out undesirable character. There are no shortcuts.

In our rooms we run ambient humidity and we do not enhance CO2. As a result, our lines tend to run well in Colorado's weird-ass environment. Anything that doesn't fare well here is excluded. Thrippy strains, nute sensitive strains, anything that stresses in our environment gets tossed.

Before we release anything, we feed our development strains to our local grower-partners who, we feel, put them through the wringer and push them hard to produce. These people are no-BS, tell-it-to-you-straight operators who know what to expect from plants.

I post most at gardenscure but also at TY, THCFarmer and some of the private seed collectives. We have access to pretty much anything we want, but we try to focus on genetic lines that have not yet been commercially exploited.

Our current project is based on a wild strain from Dagestan, a Russian Republic on the Caspian Sea. I'm pretty sure we're the first people to grow these in the US and probably one of the first groups in the world to hybridize this particular seed source.

Having said all of that, some of our stuff will be good, some of it less so and hopefully, some of it will be good enough to find its way into your gardens.

Whatever you walk away thinking, know that we take the responsibility seriously and we know what is at stake for the people who grow our stuff commercially and for those who are self reliant for their own meds.

What is the climate like in Dagestan relative to Colorado?

More coastal, New Englandish in longitude. I read in a wine atlas that the soil there is generally chalky like Chablis (ancient oyster beds). We saw difficulties when our solutions were too acid, but I expect the first increase generation to be a little better adjusted to the tray.

The plant is short with very narrow leaflets and a bright fruity fragrance. It tends toward citrus/sweet/sour. Here's a pollinated top:




There were some plants that were sexed and labeled male then switched hard to female and then grew balls. Point being that there are naturally occurring intersex plants in wild populations.

We managed to find one very nice male, one that grew strong and healthy and showed no signs of female expression.

We've honored that male and used it in a few crosses with our female standards. We'll harvest seed from this project in mid-December. It'll be fun to see the outcomes.

High All, well it's been 3 weeks sense my posting and I have to say that there are still no colors coming out of my blackberry darling! I think maybe VISC seeds may have pulled a fast one on me:upsidedow

She's on her 5th week into flowering and still no colors (reds, purples, other colors) then green and light green! I'm still very happy that she's female(so-far) but I purposely ordered blackberry!!

Also I went on-line to get to there website and all I can get is a advertisement for post-cards?:wtf: I guess the colors could still come, but everyday I loose a little more hope!! here's some pics

Lower your temps. The colors will then come if they're in the genes...

lower your lights out temp. Needs to be at least 10 degrees cooler than lights on, and preferably under 65 degrees F.

make it colder and use only organics. still, it is genetics and no reason to assume that certain phenos will show their true colors.
